Real had 10 shots on target compared to City's 1? City was just lucky to not concede more than 1 goal.

I though the referee will be normal at least in the final. Would have been totally different game if Liverpool got these 2 CLEAN penalties. It's not excuse, Sevilla done well in second half and Liverpool fell like the house of cards.

I can acknowledge Sevilla's superiority in this game but the refs...fucking cancer of football IF 1 penalty was given and converted things would be different. Frustrating to watch spanish buttholes downgrade BPL after this show...

I'm pretty sure that Spanish teams have and will dominate the Champions League, Europa League, and other European competitions. Everyone always says that the EPL is better, and it is competition wise, but Spanish teams are just superior to EPL teams right now. Sorry.

Look I will say this.

BPL is more watchable than La liga in terms of what a league can give you. Competitive, Different winners/competitors, Budget and upsets. La Liga can give you all that but in much less quantity. You will never see Eibar challenge the big 3 as Leicester did this year. BUT yes La Liga offers world class teams such as Barcelona , Atletico and Real which no doubt their squads are massive in terms of talent. You can always say Bilbao or Villareal or Sevilla can KO teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, ManU etc etc BUT seriously when can Bilbao or the others can challenge for the title? Meh at least BPL gives me that advantage to see that. It is like the Game of Thrones which you seriously don't know what the hell will happen. Sorry if I am not clear I am kinda drunk when I am typing this.

Note that BPL has more titles and a smaller team can chase a cup like FA or Carlington cup.

You can say I am wrong I respect it but I won't say very soon that La Liga is a better league than BPL, their big names just have better squads than the English ones.

Eibar could actually surprise :) watchable is subjective, I cant watch BPL lately aside from Leicester games this season. Nobody obliges you to say it, wich one is better is not the question, the title here was wich one is weaker, And this game aside, SPain had 6 européen titles out of 6 in the last 3 years. No one would Ask you to prefer Liga over BPL though.

@Joze, The thread asks which if the EPL is weaker, and I am saying that it is. Everyone knows that there are more chances for a team like Leicester to win the title and that there's more competition, but that doesn't mean that the whole league is stronger. For example, yesterday, Sevilla, who according to transfermarkt.com is worth 196,10 Mill. € beat Liverpool who is worth 365,35 Mill. €, again according to transfermarkt.com. Of course, they were supposed to have 2 penalty's and I don't deny that, but Sevilla has dominated the Europa Leauge for the past 5 years, and yet you say that the EPL has stronger teams

Let's look at the Champion League Finals from the start of this century.

List of teams by nationality in descending order.

  1. Spain - 10 Teams - 31%
  2. England - 8 Teams - 25%
  3. Germany - 6 Teams - 19%
  4. Italy - 6 Teams - 19%
  5. France - 1 Team - 3%
  6. Portugal - 1 Team - 3%

ChampLeaguePic

Out of the 8 Champions League finals that Spanish teams participated in, 7 of them were won by the Spanish teams. Out of the 7 games that English teams played in the Champions League, 3 of them were won.

Looking at the Europa League Finals starting this century, we can conclude the same thing...
EuropaLeagPic

...Spanish teams have dominated these Finals.

Everytime an argument is started about which league is better, the pro-EPL people always say that the EPL is better because there is more competition in the EPL, and I'll admit and say that I also like that you can watch an EPL game and be on the edge of your seat the whole game. But whenever one of "the big 3" loses, every EPL supporter makes fun of that team and says that they suck. To your surprise, the La Liga does have some competition in it.

Finally, statistically speaking, The La Liga teams have performed way better that EPL teams in Inter-European Competition, and thats something no one can disprove. La Liga teams are stronger, even if their squad costs less, and many EPL supporters always say that the La Liga is weak, well maybe you should watch a full game where Messi plays and watch how much times he gets fouled, just because some occurrences of diving occur doesn't mean that the La Liga is a "soft" league.

Oh, and BTW, here are the last 10 BPL Titles, and to me it seems that there is also a "big 3" in this league as well, so maybe the Spanish League isn't the only one with the "big 3" in it.

In knockout competition anything can happen . Complaining about referees influencing the game has no point to me anymore because that is same as yelling in an empty room . If football clubs, fans and players don't protest and demand changes in Football like involving technologies then we absolutely deserve to keep on seeing teams winning on the sh8ty calls . Fair play organization also is a laughing stock .

To the topic of who is better . I think EPL league is better . To the question who has been performing better in CL then clearly Spanish teams have done much better in this format competition .Taking performance in knockout format competition as clear indication of superiority of one league over other , doesn't make sense to me anymore . Even though spanish teams perform better in European leagues , broadcasters and sponsors still giving more business to EPL . Why ? Because league sells good entertainment .

Football is first of all an entertainment ! Back in the days there were knight fights , gladiator fights , greek olympics all for the pleasure of population . We fans enjoy being entertained . La Liga doesn't entertain as much as EPL and it is simple .

As far as who plays better Football again hard to judge when teams play in knockout competitions and the other league has one of the best players in the world . I think English clubs will be back dominating very soon , next season or this coming . I am not worried about EPL clubs performance in Europe because they will be back with bang . I am more worried about CL becoming dull and loosing that status as main competition because slowly EPL is becoming something of a NFL or NBA . Very competitive football from the bottom to the top .

You may think i am talking nonesense again , but i kept saying this way before money came in and i know people who share tthe same opinion and watch how it transforms . Money are pouring into EPL . Soon best players in the world will stop leaving EPL but stay there because it will be lucrative . EPL title will be just as important title as CL if not more . FA is doing fantastic job selling the brand of football and entertainment around the world . People love it and buy it .

EPL is a better "league" because the teams in general have way more money, better reputation, the league is in the ENGLISH language which is very important, and it is more entertaining to watch for the reasons I just stated.

Even though EPL is a better league, the skill level is lower. La Liga teams are stronger, better play style, beautiful football.

La Liga teams > EPL teams
La Liga league < EPL league

btw I am a Barca fan

I haven't looked at this thread because I'm so done with this discussion, but I will say this:

Look at the BPL teams of a decade ago, or even half decade ago. Mourinho's old Chelsea, Fergie's old United, Wenger's same old Arsenal, even teams like Liverpool. Do you doubt, even for a second, that the current version of that squad could beat the squad from a decade ago?

The answer is (obviously) no.

That means one very simple fact. The EPL is trending down on its own, not because other leagues are getting stronger (although that is a contributing factor). It's not like everyone is getting better and the EPL is just slower. In terms of squad strength, the EPL has gotten progressively worse.

For me, I'd personally say right now that La Liga is stronger, and the Bundesliga is almost on par. Most of you are familiar with my opinion already, just dropping it in this shitshow of a thread for the first time.
