Hazard's Red Card
Jimskeleton 12 years ago

Just wanted to get people's opinions on this red card and Hazard's decision making in this incident.

Laws state that it is a red card but do you think it was fair?

Was there any need for Hazard to even get involved just to save what in all reality was just going to be a few extra seconds and did the red card ultimately cost his team, although I don't think it did as Chelsea were poor all game.

For those who didn't see it, Hazard was sent off for a kicking a ball boy in the body in an attempt to get the ball out from underneath him. Am sure I or someone can post up a video in here for those who missed it.

OK. You've admitted it was Hazard's fault. But it doesn't seem like you're accepting that like I have said in my previous comment. You guys only have yourselves to blame for getting such a bad reputation. And I think you were the one who actually started this argument! I said I was neutral on this incident but then you came in and started to go on about "Is sharing an opinion wrong?". The reason I said that it was ironic was because you told me that "Is sharing an opinion wrong" and you said I shouldn't just post on these threads. I never said that the ball boy wasn't being an ass... Please tell me when I said that.

Yes he blocked the ball. Yes Hazard was trying to get the ball. But like I have said a million times. There were much more discrete ways of getting the ball.
I just find it appalling that you say he couldn't do anything but kick him.  It doesn't matter if the kick is hard or not. He still kicked him. Are you really sure there were  no other ways of getting the ball. I'm sure you would have found it appalling if a United player kicked the ball and I said there was no other way of getting the ball.

I believe it was BOTH the ball boy's and Hazard's fault. Also, I didn't really wanted to start this whole argument. The whole argument began after I post I made that started with "One more thing to add:" That's where you came in and said stop trying to provoke an argument. I only said "Is sharing an opinion wrong?" because like I said, I was just adding something else as well. I also know you never said the ballboy wasn't being an ass (that was my mistake). But why I told you shouldn't post here is because if you don't like it when Chelsea fans are "moaning" then don't bother to view the thread. That was more of a suggestion so I don't see how it is ironic at all with "Is sharing an opinion wrong?" Finally, don't you think Hazard was trying every other option? He tried to roll him over and get the ball, he tried to snatch it from him, he tried to nudge it from underneath his stomach. It was the dying moments of a game and he got into the heat of it. He wasn't going to wait for an official to go talk to the ball boy and then let him give it to Hazard. Like I said, many players would be under the same heat at those moments. Even a lot of players went to twitter to support Hazard believing that the kick wasn't really intentional, but out of the ball boy's idiocy trying to provoke a reaction from the player. Hell, if the ballboy did that to a ManUtd player and he kicked him I would say it's both their faults but I'd be a bit more on the ManUtd player's side.

Ok enough of this crap. Hazard is to blame 100%. The ball boy was holding on to the ball? Well he wouldn't have had hazard not gone up to him to get te ball. What he would have saved 5 seconds if he ran and got it instead of a ball boy.  I guess if the ball boy "deserved" getting kicked then every goalkeeper that stalls an every player that takes the ball to the corner deserve a kick to the face right? Didn't think so.

Ugh. Disgusting little child. As Vendetta and Dynastian points out, the ball boy is being an utter nuisance by rolling over and deliberately holding the ball. What Hazard did obviously looked like a silly act, but in my opinion, it was totally deserved in terms of the ball boy.

Hazard shows he's a man who wants to win. I can't explain in words how mucky that ball cûnt is. He's, without any doubt, covering the ball as good as he can; it's extremely abominable.

I guess we misunderstood each other.
When you said, "Is sharing an opinion wrong?", I guess it kinda provoked me.
I still thought that there were more ways of Hazard to retrieve the ball.
A lot of players did support Hazard but a lot of people supported the ball boy.
And yes. I also believed that both of them was at fault like I said in my first comment.

@raimondo90: The goalkeeper has every right to stall a player. The goalkeeper can help his team that way. Same can be said about the players that take the ball to the corner. The ball boy is not part of the team and therefore should just do his job. How is Hazard to blame 100%? The only thing that can be said about Hazard is he shouldn't have kicked him. Other than that the ball boy was a complete dick for wasting time and not allowing Hazard to get the ball even though Hazard wasn't even trying to kick him in the beginning.

@man_utd: I understand what you mean, but this was the semi-finals and we needed to score 2 goals in 10 minutes. The ballboy obviously was being a massive cunt and was holding the ball in the dying minutes of the game. Hazard could have obviously taken the ball in a less aggressive way, but when there is only 10 minutes left in a semi-final match and there is a dick stalling the game and he isn't even part of the match, you might lose your temper. Anyway, no harm done. They apologized and that's it. But I will still stand by my statement that the ballboy is a cunt.

Just to cool things down, here's some more funny ball-boy antics:

So let me get this straight, the ball boy is a dick for stalling but a player is not a dick because its his duty to stall? The ball boy didn't stall until hazard pushed him.

Hilarious! His smirk in the middle of the video is priceless.

Hazard's fault. Simple as that. He deserves at least a 3 match suspension. Don't give me the argument that "anyone else would've done the same thing", because that is not true. A sane person would've alerted the referee with regards to the ball boy's time wasting. Hazard shouldn't have trampled him and harassed him from the back. I don't care who you are, if you attack someone not involved in the match in any way, you deserve a hefty penalty. It damages the sport's reputation.

@raimondo90: Go to 2:25. Hazard was trying to get the ball quickly, the ball boy was picking it up slowly, Hazard tries to pull it with his leg then the ball boy goes on to the ground stalling. Hazard doesn't kick him yet. He still tries to take the ball with his hand but the ball boy didn't let go. So, in the dying minutes and in the heat, he kicked him. Players can stall all they want if it means they get to make their team win. This is a ball boy. He has nothing to do with the game and was a complete cunt for doing that.

@TheGame: Not to single your team out but I've seen much worse from your players/ex players. The sport's reputation will never suffer because of this incident that will be forgotten in 2 days. Hazard should get a 1 game ban and that's it. He apologized and didn't send him to a hospital to make it that bad. Some tackles are worse than what he did.
