So help me out here, fellas. I'm trying to make a list of the best players I have seen live (truly great ones), and here's the list I have compiled so far. I made the list in like 15 minutes, so I haven't thought it out very well.

I know a guy who's been a Barcelona fan since the 90's, and he said that he thought Zanetti was better than Cafu, Cole, Carlos, and Lahm!

Yeah, I missed Villa too. I'll put him up.

Can't agree with the other guys on Drogba, though. He was a powerful striker, and a solid one. But in his Chelsea career that spanned 8 seasons, he only passed the 20 goal mark twice. Benzema has scored 21 more goals than Drogba in his 8 seasons at Madrid, and the Big Benz was never known for scoring in the first place. :/

Unfortunately, I can't do the Italians like Totti, Nesta, and Del Piero because I only saw them when they were aged.

Re-edited and added Kroos, Toure, Lucio, De Rossi, Cesar, and Lewandowski. Should probably add Muller too.

I think this list is heading towards 50 players. I think that's what I'm going to turn it into. My own personal top 50.

EDIT:: I switched Lahm and Rooney. I reckoned Lahm has had a better career and has been a better player than John Terry, who in turn has had a better career and has been more consistent than his fellow Englishman, Rooney.

@Dynastian Busquet maybe? I mean, you did put Yaya Toure in. Also, Hazard or Kante maybe, I dunno. :(

Kante? You must be joking. He's only been good for two seasons. Hazard is good, but definitely not deserving of that list. Busquets is a good idea, I think I'll put him up there.

I think I'll put Aguero up there as well. He's pretty unstoppable.

He's pretty unstoppable.

I almost nodded to that statement until I remembered this guy gets injured every other week :(

As for Drogba, I kinda see what you mean, but the thing about him is that he showed up to the occasion almost certainly. If I had a big game up next, I'd pick him over Messi, Cristiano, and anyone who is active as we speak. No kidding.

If we're talking big game players, Kaka, Lampard, and Gerrard were all exceptional as well. Fernando Torres is also heavily underrated as a big game player because he's been showing up throughout his entire Liverpool and Atletico career.

Too many players to list, but I have to agree that Messi tops the list for me too. I've never seen someone who with such quick feet - closest guy I could think of is Ronaldo (from Brazil).

Also, I wouldn't rate Zapata that high. I truly did enjoy a lot of his goals, but there's nothing "fun" about his overall game. I'd out him in the 20s but that's just an opinion.

I'd certainly make sure Miroslav Klose is on there. In that international vein, some additional player I might think about throwing in would be Landon Donovan, Michael Essien, Oliver Kahn, Ryan Giggs, Cesc Fabregas, David Silva (who I rate as a career higher than Yaya Toure), Dani Alves, Dirk Kuyt, Eric Abidal, Juninho, Dida, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Carlos Puyol, Vincent Kompany, Edwin Van Der Sar, Gattuso, and Gonzolo Higuain.

Another name that is a bit out there is Shunsuke Nakamura. I loved that guy back in the day.

That's it I got nothing else.

Yeah, I'll put Klose up. I never watched Giggs in his prime, so can't speak about him. I got Bastian (one of my all time favs), got Higuain, and I'll throw up Essien, Puyol, and Silva too.

And I think Landon Donovan is the most overrated player I have ever heard of. Too many Americans think that he's actually useful on a good team lol. I think he's a mediocre player at best.

I would put Ballack and Kuyt in list even though both were kinda older by 2008. Ballack 30, Kuyt 28. Put them if you want. Ballack played in Chelsea when he was 30 and was still worldclass, Kuyt was great for a while (even now).
