Rio Patricio on there is a bit of an oddity. No other real comments. At least Pique didn't make it on this year.

EDIT: Pogba is on there. Ooooooooooooooooooooooook

Rui Patricio in there is really interesting, don't want to go on a rant lol, but he's the name that I bet most people will say immediately "What in the world is this guy doing there?". Must be the first time in history (if I remember) a player from Portuguese league gets true recognition for his achievements/performances in a setting like this. Is it surprising? Yes? However is it undeserved? Far from it. He was absolutely brilliant for Portugal in the Euro and has been fantastic for Sporting all year. Well deserved.

Agree fully that Alexis is missing on this list. Although in the end it doesn't matter much as everyone knows who will win, everybody has known ever since the 10th of July. Happy to see Dybala there though.

@Vamos

I don't disagree that Patricio is underrated. But I also don't think he had a better year than David De Gea. Sanchez hasn't had the best calendar year even though I think he's the better player, so I can accept that one, but De Gea? What about Ozil? Was Rui Patricio really the best Liga Nos has to offer over someone like Jonas? Or was it just because he got a lot of visibility in the Euros?

Question answers itself.

Ronaldo
Suarez
Messi

or

Ronaldo
Messi
Suarez

...although I would prefer my first list.

In my eyes, Luka Modric and Pepe both deserve a shoutout for their phenomenal performances year-round.

Pretty sure final 3 are gonna be Ronaldo; Messi and Suarez where Ronaldo will win the award.

Agree with everyone here.

Why Sanchez is not on the list is also beyond my understanding

Ronaldo will most likely win due to the Euro

@Sunflsh Alexis didn't had the best year in EPL, but for Chile he was one of the most important players, if Vidal is there Alexis deserve to be on the list as well.

Ibra & Pogba on the list just because of their name I guess, say whatever you want but even Kante deserve the place more than both.

Rakitic over Mahrez. Rakitic is by far underrated and he had an excellent season,
Kane over Vardy. Kane is the topscorer of the BPL but vardy won it, this may be debatable but I believe Kane deserves it more.
Ozil over Pogba. No comment.

Felipe Luis Also deserves to be there, alongside him is Juanfran. Both Atletico Fullbacks had an outstanding season, they deserve to be in the top as well, even over the previous players I mentioned, except Ozil.

Argentina and France coming in hot with the nominations.

Agree with some comments. Kante and Rakitic deserve recognition, for an amazing year and for trophies one. For that reason, Ozil and Alexis Sanches and De Gea are not there. Also wtf is Pepe doing there..

Lmao, simply lmao. You're speaking out of hate (everyone knows he was this year's best CB by far).

The real question is what in the world is Pogba and Ramos doing here? yek.

Where the f.ck is Kanté lol? He's in the top 10 in my eyes to be honest. What are Dybala and Müller doing on the list?

By the way, the Balon d'Or seems a tough choice as Ronaldo's been playing quite mediocre since the Euros. Really don't know who should win it this year.

@Phenohyte

He's actually only had one bad game. The other games he's either performed well, performed well and not scored, or just came off an injury. People seem to judge Ronaldo's performances on whether he scored a goal or not.

@Lilywhite. This whole award is a likability contest. You have to be marketed a certain way. This is why Suarez won't win it (who should in my opinion win it this year) and this is exactly why Dybala is there (Is he one of the best or deserving of being in the top 30, it's questionable. Is he still a great player, yes. Is he marketed well, hell yea he is marketed well to the public). Was Pepe the difference maker at real madrid THIS year? no. Was he at the euros? maybe. But it was less to do with him, and more to do with how Portugal played. They were a wall, impenetrable as a COLLECTIVE. Also Pogba rightly deserves to be there for his accomplishments at Juventus this past year. The copa and the title. He's absolute trash now, but deserves to be nominated for what he did in italy.

Best cb? good joke kid.

@Gonzi Sorry buddy, but I have to agree with Lily on this one, Pepe have been unplayable this season. His performance in the euro espiecially in the final were quite impressive. He have been most solid when it was needed.

Anyway, good to see Marhez and Vardy getting the some kind of recognition for what they did last season but I think Kante would have deserved a place as well. :(

I'm guessing De Gea have been hurt by his performance in the Euro who wasn't in my opinion as good as usual. Also, Patricio nearly permited Sporting to lift the trophy this year so I think its fair to say he had a very good season.

Funny note is that there is 4 Argentine player and 4 France player but only 2 Portugal player and 1 Chile player, funny when you consider the results of the euro and the copa.

@Phenohyte Godin maybe, and thats it. :P
