Keep your chin up, hun. Something stable is bound to come along when it's time. The crash hit my plans badly too; been looking for something to sink the teeth into, as well, so I know how it feels. Glad you found a place to call home out there though. :)

As cheesy as it sounds, I was there to see about a girl. ;) Didn't work out, alas, but we live and learn, no? I did love the place, though; the people are great. I lived in Mukwonago and Waukesha, and visited Madison a few times. :) What took you to Oregon?
Appreciate the invite but I'm all about hardcopies. Nothing can replace the feel of ever-creasing spine or the flip of a physical page. Besides, I have a bunch of books on queue that I haven't gotten around to reading b/c of other responsibilities.
The only cults I've ever had any interested in are ancient ones (I enjoy Ancient history). I see enough of people's irrational thoughts everyday for me to want to expose myself to more of it in the form of literature :)
You're welcome. Madaq Alley? I'm impressed. This book however is far, far better. It's a pretty easy read to so it'll go by in no time (no James Joyce here). Give it a go
Some interesting authors you've mentioned there. I always recommend the following book to readers who want to branch out: "The Cairo Trilogy" by Naguib Mahfouz. The book revolves around an Egyptian family in British-occupied Egypt of the early 20th century but it deals a lot with philosophy, sexuality, social injustices and is an absolutely gripping read. It won the Nobel Prize for Literature. I highly recommend it especially the "Doubleday Publishers" Edition,
