Best example of what happens when you expand the number of teams beyond reasonable. 2015 expansion from 16 to 24 was overdone IMO. 52 matches instead of 32. There are just not 8 more competitive teams. In the end, it turns some matches of the tournament into a farce like this. I feel bad for Thailand getting humiliated like this.

why don't teams and clubs consist of mixed genders? I am sure there a women out there that are better than some men. Imagine all the clubs were open to this, so much more potential talent that play in huge clubs. I think it's time we changed

Teams already consist of mixed genders. When I watch men's football I see mostly little tattooed girls with plucked eyebrows and hairless legs. When I watch women's football I see more manly creatures of unknown gender than men's teams. Next is a tournament of all those 30 genders approved by the Istanbul convention - Euro gay-socialist wet dream!

I always got more frustrated in a blowout when the winning team would appear to let up a bit. I say it's true sportsmanship on the USA to keep their foot on the gas - showing the Thai team that they were respected as opponents enough to keep increasing the deficit. The Thai national team is in its first ever World Cup - a huge honor, regardless of getting walloped or not. Womens soccer might not be as deep as Mens (yet), but teams like Thailand are providing the groundwork for huge growth in the women's game by showing up and being proud to represent their countries. Think San Marino, Gibraltr in the men's game - getting smoked time and time again, paving the way for historic wins and national pride. I salute the USA and Thailand for showing up and putting on a show.

Actually, this is the second time the Thailand national team to qualifying the Women's World Cup after 2015.

Still, this is still extremely embarrassing.

Most of fighting sports, golf, badminton, petanque, etc.

But, to the credits for the Thai women team, most of them were not a professional footballers, but rather an athletes being drawn to playing a football. So, that's why they had such a lame crossing/passing skill, since these were not a sport they were specialized at.

now this is quite sad to see. im not sure many of those thai players have the opportunity to even practice the game daily and they're coming up against world champions. I hope they at least find a way to finish the tournament with dignity

But in the long run it improves the football in those nations. The better teams will meet in the latter stages so these type of games are to be expected in the early stages. Expanding the tournament, expands the popularity of the game in lesser nations that participate, no matter how they play. My country played at the Olympics; they were terrible - but we enjoyed being there and investment in women's soccer is being made available.

Apparently they just broke a scoring record, poor Thailand just set the bar on the worst defeat in World Cup history.

Before the match, Thai coach said that "USA will remember our team after the match ended".

Well, I did NOT expect that they will remember our team this way.
