Pele

It always seems like someone messing with you? What EPL fans? Ignore them.

I honestly, don’t give a sht how much PSG spends and I don’t like FFP because it isn’t there to protect small clubs from aggressive big clubs coming to get their players, but it is to protect big clubs from small clubs competing with them in the market.

PSG is a young club, so spend whatever you want to build your future. However, a good and strong club isn’t just players but backroom staff, board, manager and his assistants, scouts, medical staff, fitness trainers, marketing, etc and even guy cleans the players room! Each is there to do their job to best of their abilities and beyond.

So, I wis my club this year being banned from transfer, would pay attention to these “small” details. Instead of bringing new manager every season, and throwing him under the bus.

We all know how ppl go at PSG while EPL teams spend world record breaking amounts of money. Don’t get me wrong, I know PSG has a sugar daddy and they should try more than putting most of their trust in cash. But pointing at them as if they spend so much more than EPL teams is ridiculous.

I don’t like the idea... but the answer could actually be super league for the top 20-30 european teams. It would generate a lot more money but at the same time easier to introduce spending limits and salary caps. This works quite well in USA.

And I totally agree about FFP...

So, I have no idea why nobody is speaking about it but Kompany is leaving City to become manager player for Anderlecht. What a way to leave for him, after making history with City this season!

Also, Juventus is linked with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

EPL doesn't want super league. It wants supremacy of its own. Other leagues like Legue 1, Eridivise, Bundesliga or Seria A might be more interested in this and perhaps La liga.

**Arsenals business chief recently said that they don't need to make into top 4 to make money. To be exact he said CL is overrated as financial source. They are just fine without it and being in it, just added bonus and prestige. This is where EPL is heading already, mate.

America has the most boring transfer window, and their league format is complete nonsense. They don't realize how to lay a good foundation to football league heritage. Football awareness is growing but they are watching European football more than MLS, particularly EPL. Teams slack entire season and then put maximum effort in knockout stage.. no relegation battles ever happening.. not even top 4 battles .. title race from end to finish ... none.

I am fine with spending limits, but then bigger club will just offer bigger wages :)) and if you want salary caps then how is it fair to limit opportunity of a player to earn money when his career barely lasts good 10 years including injuries, suspensions, being benches due to loss of form, or simply having someone better play in your position and etc reasons.

From an economic point of view EPL top teams would rather play vs B Munich Juventus or Barcelona on a regular basis rather than Brighton Huddersfield or Cardiff.

Salary cap doesnt need to be set on a low level. The most important thing is to have something that makes them compete on more equal terms.

Ok I heard that regardless of Sarri winning Europa League, he will be sacked .. to be replaced by Allegri.

Also, Coutinho being linked with a move back to Liverpool but Chelsea are interested.

@pele

What data gives you the confidence to say that EPL teams will be better off? Yes, EPL clubs will make more money, but to me it seems like other clubs will be happier. Here we have financial chief of Arsenal ( out of all the teams, which made me surprised) saying that they don't need to make into top 4 to make the big buck.

Salary cap doesnt need to be set on a low level. The most important thing is to have something that makes them compete on more equal terms.

That is socialism. It will not incentives players and it will not work. Transfer cap might do fine if they try ( FFP is an attempt if you want to call it attempt) but salary cap..? It will be like in soviet factory, wether you work hard or not, you still go home with same salary as the next guy.. kind of like Alexis Sanchez - the guy is banking wether it is raining, or snowing while he seats on that bench haha

FFP is a joke, but not because of the idea, because of the implementation. If corrupt people try to regulate something, obviously the regulations themselves will be corrupt. The basic idea to limit spending to a financially sound amount based on the ability of the club/president to be able to pay and not go into debt and then bankrupt is a good idea. But it doesn't get applied nor do the penalties matter, for example: PSG's and Man City's "fines".

There's nothing wrong with making sure clubs don't do stupid things and put themselves in massive debts, but salary caps are just overkill and limit the growth of the game. We don't need them if FFP is working as intended

Kompany will fail being a manager. You heard it here.

He might but then again, unless he get Anderlecht relegated, I doubt he will be sacked, which mean it will be valuable experience for him in the time being. Also, just by being there as a player, he will no doubt up the team level a bunch. So, for me, its a move for his future, in order to transition smoothly from player to manager.

Also, if Sarri win Europa league only to get sacked, I will be annoyed. The fun thing is that apparently, Sarri is a target for Juventus to replace Allegri.

Edit: Oh by the way, guys, lets try to keep talking about transfer ok? This thread isn't about FFP, about PSG vs EPL teams economic or nothing of the sort, so lets try to focus, pretty please with sugar on top? ;)

@marcus: Ofc he’s not going to say that Arsenal is doomed if they dont play UCL. Which btw they wont be. And I’m talking about the money it could bring in, not the potential losses.

Football is a globalized industry nowadays and a game like Liverpool-Barcelona is going to generate more money from around the world than Liverpool-Brighton.
The vast majority of international EPL fans support one of the biggest 4-6 EPL clubs. Same thing goes with the other leagues.
If you bring the teams together you will bring together these masses of fans.

EPL teams in a european super league will generate more money, however today they have an advantage through money the TV license of EPL brings vis-a-vis the other leagues. So even if they will get more money, the differences will even out in a super league as all big clubs involved will demand the same portion of the pot. Thats why the EPL teams are more hesitant. They will increase the revenues but the advantage to the other clubs will reduce. Which in long terms means less silverware for each club.

And no, salary caps is not socialism. It works well in USA and they have been quite allergic to sovietic factories. A teams salary cap does not mean every player goes home with the same salary... the stars gets more and roleplayers less. No player earning 100k euros a week is going to feel left out.

@Marcus and Pelle

It would be very interesting to make a separate thread to talk about this issue. Financial stability of clubs among different leagues, parity in sports, FFP, salary and budget restrictions, etc. Im certainly more interested in discussing that rather speculations. But let's try not derail this conversation about transfers.

As a United fan I'm way past the fed up stage in regards to transfer rumors..
I've got my expectations low so nothing can really disappoint me now.

Yeah sure maybe it derailed lol

How about this: Arsenal have enough "ammunition" to convince top transfer targets to join them this summer, according to head of football Raul Sanllehi.

I've always been disappointed when Arsenal goes out and tells the world that they surely can go for the big names. Somehow they end up with second tier players most of the time, and very late in the transfer window.
