by watching that gif by that angle, you're just getting tricked like the referee was. then sorry but watching a replay from a GIF which has MISSING FRAMES going at 15 fps? seriously...

from the slowmo i watched yesterday, Ramos did not touch him, but like you say, in realtime it's very difficult to spot, and also, in football this kind of dynamic with the man cutting in front of the defender it's given penalty 99% of times.

but the thing is not about the penalty itself, it's about the red card.

@tdot , go find a gif of Gaymar's dives you will find many of them. And every idiot can score 2 penalties and 1 rebound. But if you atleast SAW the match then you will agree with me that Di Maria played amazing.

@shpalman, if it's a foul, it's a penalty and a red card. And if you can't see contact on the gif I can't do anything to help you. Keep seeing only what you want to see. i'm very neutral mate, it's just that these episodes ruin football. and this is mostly player's fault, because in these difficult cases the ref is just a man and can do mistakes. point is that players should help the ref , but today we watch these half champs who make you get goosebumps for an awesome skill and then sh*t all over it with their unfair attitude performing dives which are at same top level of their football skills.

now, imagine if at the place of Neymar there was a player who's NOT a diver. we wouldn't have all this sh*tstorm of bad feelings.

anyway, by the book red cards are given when the last man commits foul, or when there is a clear scoring opportunity. refs not always apply the latter because it depends on the situation and the gravity of the foul.
many times we assist at fouls, on clear scoring opportunity, which are sactioned with a yellow.
this was a yellow.

also, is not that i see what i want to see, a 15 frames-per-second gif ain't the best medium to showcase these kind of episodes, go figure if i can even base a debate on it lol...

Read the rules guys Ramos is the last defender and referee saw foul and that is automatic red card...it doesnt matter if Ramos just touch Neymar in his back if you are the last defender and you committed a foul thats a red card ffs

my point is quite clear: dive or not, the ref whistled , even because (like i wrote already) in these situations 99% of the times the ref gives a pen, so at THAT point he should have booked Ramos with a yellow.

Seriously guys, try run at full speed or cutting diagonally and got someone both pull you lightly and accidentally clip for back feet, you are gonna fly over I guarantee you, not to mention Neymar had to have eye on goals and Ramos too. Having said that, Im sure Neymar made the most out of it, and surely Ramos didn't intend to do clip Neymar, it was just too fast.

But rules are rules, it was RED, end of story. Without that rules, players will going on forever about "accidentally, didn't mean to, unintentionally touch and cause imbalance to the other who about to score...", then the game become even dirtier and more violent because they would all got mad...
