Soldado on the point of signing for Tottenham for 30 million euros !!

Tottenham Hotspurs technical director met with Toldrá and Salvo. The English club are willing to pay the amount demanded.

Hotspur player as of Tuesday after a day of intense meetings that left Valencia and the English club on the point of a finalised deal. Tottenham Hotspur technical director Franco Baldini arrived in Valencia in the morning and met the players agent, Alberto Toldrá, before sitting down with Valencia president Amadeo Salvo.

Tottenham are yet to offer the full 30 million buy-out clause, but are very close (sources say 26 million plus variables) that nobody is any doubt that they will get there eventually. Valencia will approve the sale at a board meeting on Tuesday, which was organised before the transfer situation arose but will deal with the matter. The player is likely to earn around 3.5 million euros a year.

-The two clubs have spoken and Valencia made it clear that they wanted 30 milllion euros-, said Salvo. -Tottenhams mission is to get the player as cheaply as possible, while ours is to receive 30 million. Theres not much room for manouevre. For a deal to take place two things have to happen: the player has to want to go and they need to pay what Valencia demand. The board will study the situation-, he said.

Pretty expensive IMO whats your impressions ??

I still think it's a desperate move from Spurs. ^^

AVB can do better than this with transfers. If he can pick out Juan Mata as the jack-in-the-box, he should be able to realize Soldado's limitations, and what other options he has as well. :P

I tend to agree. Then again, if it's say, two payments of 15m over two seasons, that's less objectionable.

Still, I do think Spurs could have saved some cash and dipped into other markets.

dont worry, they'll make up for the slight overcharge by the stupid amount of money they'll eventually get from Madrid for Bale.
As for the actual topic at hand: Noooooooooooooo! I always liked Soldado and now im going to have to wish him failure :( Avb knows a good player when he sees him and Soldado will do well for them if they buy him.
in the bigger scheme if things he's well worth the investment since theres a very limited pool of strikers at that level or above that Spurs would realistically land. I think it'd be a great move for them which is why I hope this is all hearsay.

I believe if spurs had a better striker than Adebayor last year. they would be 2nd.

So, apparently, (for those still tracking this deal), there is one final snag. The fee has been agreed. The personal terms have been agreed. All is ready... except for the fact that Soldado's agent (a company called Toldra) are demanding to be paid their commission for the full 5 years of Soldado's contract... even though he only played 3 years of it. :p They are utterly in the wrong, and if a deal falls through because of that, I'll not be happy. Nor will Valencia, from all accounts.

http://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/roberto-soldado-undergo-spurs-medical-thursday/?

Roberto Soldado will undergo a medical at Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday after Tottenham, Valencia and his agents all agreed on a deal.

The transfer fee is €30million, which consists of an upfront payment of €12million, followed by three sets of €6million over the next few years. There had been a delay in the deal due to Soldado’s agent wanting a €350,000 payment for the whole of the striker’s contract duration at Valencia, when in reality he had only completed half of the contract. Thankfully they have now backed down on this demand and everything is moving forward.

Soldado will fly to London on Thursday morning to undergo his medical and to put pen to paper on a deal at White Hart Lane. Valencia will also confirm the arrival of former Spurs player Helder Postiga as Soldado’s replacement at the La Liga outfit.

Levy and co have negotiated well and hard with Valencia president Amadeo Salvo on bringing Soldado to Spurs – now the question remains if Gareth Bale will still be around to link up with the Spanish international.

Looks like finally wrapping up!

@Lodatz

Back on topic, congratulations! :D

Soldado is a great striker, and I'm happy Spurs were extremely intelligent in making small payments over the years. I just have one question for you. If Spurs were to sell Roberto in 2015, will they only have to pay Valencia the 18 M they will owe up till then, or will Spurs have to pay out the entire 30 M and THEN sell him?

To be honest, I don't know how that would work. I suspect we'd still owe them for our purchase.

Congrats Spurs, very good signing he's better than Negredo. Valencia will have some scoring problems next year, who will take Goldado's place ?
