Soldado on the point of signing for Tottenham for 30 million euros !!

Tottenham Hotspurs technical director met with Toldrá and Salvo. The English club are willing to pay the amount demanded.

Hotspur player as of Tuesday after a day of intense meetings that left Valencia and the English club on the point of a finalised deal. Tottenham Hotspur technical director Franco Baldini arrived in Valencia in the morning and met the players agent, Alberto Toldrá, before sitting down with Valencia president Amadeo Salvo.

Tottenham are yet to offer the full 30 million buy-out clause, but are very close (sources say 26 million plus variables) that nobody is any doubt that they will get there eventually. Valencia will approve the sale at a board meeting on Tuesday, which was organised before the transfer situation arose but will deal with the matter. The player is likely to earn around 3.5 million euros a year.

-The two clubs have spoken and Valencia made it clear that they wanted 30 milllion euros-, said Salvo. -Tottenhams mission is to get the player as cheaply as possible, while ours is to receive 30 million. Theres not much room for manouevre. For a deal to take place two things have to happen: the player has to want to go and they need to pay what Valencia demand. The board will study the situation-, he said.

Pretty expensive IMO whats your impressions ??

Too expensive. At 28 yo, Soldado will only have another year or two at his prime. Spurs will not be able to get the best out of him in that short amount of period. If this was two years ago, then Soldado at 26 would've been worth 30 million, but at 28 I'd say around 18-20 million is enough for him.

AVB would've done well to invest this kind of money in Higuain or Benteke.

If we lose Soldado we will have a period of mid table mediocracy. Can't have this happen to another star :/.

I agree dynast +1, at this price they could have 2 world class players from Germany, he should cost as Negredo or a little less concidering he was bought by a money team. (Negredo was overpriced to).

Oh FFS! I hope this isn't going to happen. #1because it'll strengthen Tottenham substantially and #2 because he should stay at Valencia. @tiki if he goes you can bet its because hes being pushed out by the board because they cannot turn down that much money in their financial state (especially as they didn't make CL this summer).

@Dynast: I tend to agree. Tell you the truth, I thought that Spurs would NEVER agree to spend that kind of money on him, but, hey, I guess a new day is dawning at the Lane. I still think that's too much, and would have rather seen Higuain for that kind of money, but... if this really goes through and he starts banging in the goals, I'll be happy to eat my words. ;)

@tiki_taka: I think it's more that Valencia decided they needed the money. :/ From everything I read back when this deal was first suggested. Soldado absolutely loves being at Los Che, and I suspect this deal is more about finance than desire. One of the reasons I was not-so-enthused about it in the first place. If the player himself is not going to be happy, having left the club he's supported since childhood, it doesn't really turn out well for us OR Valencia, imo.

However, again, if he starts whacking in the goals, I'll be happy to change my tune.

Baldini has seen returning to the airport without a deal, this seems typical Spurs, wasnt it the same with Damião, just a few million more and then a deal would have been made

If Tottenham had just offered 4 M.E more from the 26 M.E they offered Soldado would have been a spurs player. Even though Soldado is important to us 30 M.E is a bit overprice, but then again so is 80 M.E for Bale, he is not not Messi/Ronaldo good. His market value seem to go up when someone just mentions his name :)

Seems spurs have got rejected both last and this summer by Valencia...

^^ More like: Spurs refused to be overcharged by Valencia, both this summer and the last. ;)

If shrewd business is 'typical' of Spurs, I'm proud of it. I wonder how long Valencia fans will continue to be proud of their club losing out on 26m of cash, considering the club was taken over by the city council last year due to crippling debts....

Onto the actual story, though: the missing 4m was being discussed as add-ons, as reported yesterday. Valencia's president even said that the deal is very close to happening. We'll see, but, Spurs have offered more than a fair price.

We'll see what happens.

Mladen I don't see what is funny about this transfer whatsoever.

Anyways I don't think it will happen. Soldado would have to also agree to move, which I don't think he would.

So in other words, Salvo is screwing up the deal, for both our clubs.

It basically stands like this, tiki:

  • Salvo wants 30m euros in one sum.
  • Tottenham do not want to pay more than 26m in one sum, and offered the extra 4m in performance-based add-ons.
  • Valencia's board want to accept this offer.
  • Soldado has agreed personal terms with Tottenham.
  • Salvo overruled the board, and said no.
  • Tottenham's director of football went home.

The world is waiting for Salvo to stop being a dick, basically.
