Player Profiles
Dynastian98 10 years ago Edited

I've seen Lodatz's passion for Steven Gerrard, and thought that his player profile on Gerrard was pretty well done. I was wondering if all you FootyRoom members would be interested in doing a similar Player Profile on the legend you choose. Footaholic did something similar with Club Profiles more than a year ago, but I don't think the newer members were aware of it. It was considered to be a successful way for members to express the success and history of their favorite clubs, and many members had participated. So what do you think?

If you agree, this is what you would normally be expected to cover in your player profile, if possible:

Club Career
International Career
Achievements
Statistics (goals scored, clean sheets kept, etc.)
Records
Strengths/Weaknesses
Highlights/Disappointments of Career
Style of Play
Notable performances/matches/tournaments
Quotes from famous people on the player
Off-pitch contribution
Legacy

You would be expected to give a thorough rout on your player, and pictures/videos should be included for a better profile. It should be organized, neat, and written in formal and relatively clear English (if English is not your first language, don't worry. I just want others to be able to understand the message you are trying to send). PLEASE DON'T COPY AND PASTE OFF WIKIPEDIA.

Please cite all sources that you have used for information. Give credit where it's due, and credit will be given to you.

As you might expect, it's best to keep your opinion out of the player profile. The Profile is intended to be from an unbiased perspective. So if you claimed your player to be the greatest of all time, make sure you have multiple sources to back it up.

If this is successful, members will post their Player Profiles as different threads on pre-organized dates, and other members will try to give positive feedback.

Anyways, what do you guys think? I think Lodatz's Gerrard profile is a good benchmark, asides from the fact that his opinion is mixed all over with Gerrard's profile. Would you guys be interested in doing this? If so, please comment below on what you think about this, and how you would improve this chain-link thread idea, if possible.

My Gerrard profile was in response to a particular conversation, hence the multitude of points raised within it.

This is a very good idea, and future profiles should, as you say, be free of those kinds of points. I would love to see people getting into this idea.

Bump, because no one seems interested.

I'm very interested in this. Great idea, Dynastian - once again.

My pick is Gianfranco Zola.

EDIT: Cancel that, I'd rather pick someone not Chelsea related. That way I learn something new instead. My final pick is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

This is a great idea, we can learn a lot from it. In fact I have learned a few and used in my bar's conversation the other day (Irish pub).

Only I would suggest user should keep it constructive, short and concise. Put only the best video that is necessary. A summary section on top would be good.

I will make time to prepare some interesting thread for David Beckham. (dont know when, but I will)

Okay. When enough people volunteer their time to do this, I'll arrange dates for everyone. By the way, @Lodatz, which player are you interested in doing? Will you do another Steven Gerrard one, or someone else?

I'll happily claim Lionel Messi.

Zola, Beckham, and Messi taken. I'll post on the walls of members to see if they're interested in volunteering their time to do this.

It would be better to make the profile of player who have already retired, that way their entire history would already be written. but anyways... There are to many players to choose from, shouldn't we narrow it down somehow? Or restrict a certain amount per league/team/country? Just some suggestions :)

@Emre

It's preferred that you do one on an established legend. Roberto Carlos would be a good idea. :)

@Tuanis

Yeah, I'll try and encourage members to do profiles on established legends who have plenty of information about them. You should do a Player Profile too. :)

@Everyone else

Confirmed choices.

Lodatz - Lionel Messi
Vendetta - Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Iraqi_Madridista - Iker Casillas
Shpalman - Andrea Pirlo
Michaeldoctor1 - Raul Gonzalez
Tuan_jinn - David Beckham
Quikzyyy - Thierry Henry

If you wish to change your choice, just post it here. I'm more than happy to update choices.

And I might do mine on Cristiano Ronaldo, but I'm not sure. But for now, I'll just keep my tab on him.

@Dyn
i saw your message and I would love to do one on a play like Cruyff, Eusebio or Zico, however I am quite busy in the following weeks. I will probably check the forums regularly however I won't be able to create a complete player profile.
