Player Profiles

I've seen Lodatz's passion for Steven Gerrard, and thought that his player profile on Gerrard was pretty well done. I was wondering if all you FootyRoom members would be interested in doing a similar Player Profile on the legend you choose. Footaholic did something similar with Club Profiles more than a year ago, but I don't think the newer members were aware of it. It was considered to be a successful way for members to express the success and history of their favorite clubs, and many members had participated. So what do you think?

If you agree, this is what you would normally be expected to cover in your player profile, if possible:

Club Career
International Career
Achievements
Statistics (goals scored, clean sheets kept, etc.)
Records
Strengths/Weaknesses
Highlights/Disappointments of Career
Style of Play
Notable performances/matches/tournaments
Quotes from famous people on the player
Off-pitch contribution
Legacy

You would be expected to give a thorough rout on your player, and pictures/videos should be included for a better profile. It should be organized, neat, and written in formal and relatively clear English (if English is not your first language, don't worry. I just want others to be able to understand the message you are trying to send). PLEASE DON'T COPY AND PASTE OFF WIKIPEDIA.

Please cite all sources that you have used for information. Give credit where it's due, and credit will be given to you.

As you might expect, it's best to keep your opinion out of the player profile. The Profile is intended to be from an unbiased perspective. So if you claimed your player to be the greatest of all time, make sure you have multiple sources to back it up.

If this is successful, members will post their Player Profiles as different threads on pre-organized dates, and other members will try to give positive feedback.

Anyways, what do you guys think? I think Lodatz's Gerrard profile is a good benchmark, asides from the fact that his opinion is mixed all over with Gerrard's profile. Would you guys be interested in doing this? If so, please comment below on what you think about this, and how you would improve this chain-link thread idea, if possible.

@Lodatz

Beckham has been called by Tuan_jinn. You're free to do Michael Owen.

The reason I agreed with Marcus and KingHenry is because most people are already aware of the legacy of Xavi and Totti and Iniesta. They've been playing in the age of technology, so finding information about them is incredibly easy. But for someone like Puskas, information on him is very hard to find. You'd have to go through website after website, and video after video to find out about the career of the legendary Hungarian.

@Dynastian.

Shall i make one for Andres?
But it will be a bit different from the others.
I mean that i will mostly write about his early life,how he joined La Masia,how difficult was for him to reach there(at early age he thought quitting football as he said).
I have searched for months on that and i will be delighted to share my information there.
Of course i will post about his achievements,statistics,Style of Play(described by him) but the main part will be like reading a small Biography..

PS.Everyone asked me where have i have been all this time.
I was to busy studying in order to finish the 1st year of my studies.
1 Year remaining and i will be considered as a Physiotherapist ;)

@Don

Feel free to do Andres Iniesta. However, I encourage you to do a player that's already retired.

@Tiki

Feel free mate, Diego is all yours. :)

@Dyna & Lod

does Owen really belong to this list?

@Shpalman

The man has won a Ballon d'Or before, and is England's 4th highest goalscorer. He's been a good striker in England's history. Not the best, far from it, but he's still been good enough to be considered a former 'legend', even if it is only as a Liverpool and English legend. If Beckham is considered a British legend, I think Owen should too. :P

@Dyn
Beckham is an universally recognized legend of the game, can't say the same about Owen, most undeserved Ballon d'Or ever in the history of football (my opinion). but if you feel to use a slot for him then it's fine.

lolz I was sad about your opinion regarding Beckham, he might not be the best and most gifted out there, but he has something extremely special... :D a lot of people said he was overrated, so what, he adored by many many fans for his professionalism and his specialty too. :D

Owen was a bit strange case, he was insane at Liverpool and I remember how he made Oliver kahn miserable (the best goalie at the time), but then I dont think it was enough for Ballon d'Or, and sadly he kinda lost after that due to injury.

To me he's still a legend though.

There was a time when Michael Owen was the best striker in the world, and every defense in world football were scared of what he might do to them. By the age of 24 he had scored 158 professional goals for Liverpool, and 28 goals for his country, including a hat-trick against Germany in 2001 and the goal of the tournament in 1998's World Cup. He then went on to score 14 goals in Madrid despite spending the whole year as a super-sub for Raul.

In 2001, he won 5 trophies with Liverpool. FIVE.

That's why he won the Ballon d'Or. It was well-deserved, and Owen belongs on this list. Injury and fatigue took away what could have been one of the finest striker careers in European history.
