MANCHESTER CITY SET TO MAKE £40 MILLION BID FOR SUAREZ IN JANUARY

So apparenatally Mancini is interested in signing Suarez in January. To him I say fuc* off!!! U can't just buy players because u have money and then ruin there careers by making them bench warmers! Why don't u actually make some players from ur youth academy, instead of buying every teams good players, or actually buy a player for a decent price and make them into a star (because saying "make players from the youth academy" would be hipacritical of me as a Liverpool fan, but at least we've made some good players)!!!!!!

Highly unlikely to ever happen. They are rich but not dumb. Two they need to get rid of balotelli first.

i am unconvinced. even if they do, liverpool wont sell their only remaining striker... the owners know it would cause a mutiny. plus, he JUST signed a fat contract extension.

im not a hater and i know that money is a part of modern football. but to the extent of pretty much buying a whole team? disgrace if you ask me

Oh please, yes you do have more youth players in your starting line-ups than us but don't act as if you have multiple youth players who play for you every matchday. I checked, and ManUnited's current starting team has around 3 youth players. So stop calling it a disgrace when most of your first team are also bought not made in to stars. It is a plus though, you do have some youth that are starting so that is good. But, think logically. RDM has bought young stars that will shine bright in Chelsea's future. For example, Oscar, Moses, Azpi, Hazard(doubtful), Marin, and many more. As for our youth... we already have Piazon and Bertrand playing most of the time in the past two weeks.

So stop calling Chelsea wasteful when recently we have been making profit and thinking smart on transfers.

was i going on about youth players? no... I agree with you that money is a huge part of football these days, and yes, most teams do buy most of their players. Im going on about how teams SPEND.

Despite the controversy, Suarez does deserve to play for a club that has a higher chance of success. He works very hard everyday, and without him Liverpool would be dead last. But Man City definitely shouldn't be his destination. It would be nice to see him playing in the Serie A.

With all respect to the views of some of the posters above and elsewhere, I always found it difficult to come to terms with the argument that a good player "deserves" to play for a better team. In this particular example, Luis Suarez is the big fish at Liverpool and apart from Gerrard is their main star. Generally good players like being that. Secondly, Liverpool have been good to him:

1-they made him the co-highest played payer along with Gerrard by giving him 120,000 pounds/week (no chump sum for a club with financial constraints)

2-Rightly, or probably wrongly, they stood by him through all the stupid shit he's done like diving/racism etc. never once criticizing him.

3-It's not as if he isn't appreciated by the manager or his teammates. He starts every match and he always gets his share of the ball. By all accounts he has friends in the locker room.

But, my point goes beyond this particular case.  If all great players are concentrated into 1 or 2 squads (ala Spain) it ruins the competitiveness of a league.  More teams with good players makes a league more interesting. Moreover, great teams don't just pop out of thin air (granted, sugar-daddy clubs are an exception) they are created and they are usually started by building around the club's best player. There are many many examples of this if you study football history. Lastly, it's not as if the player has been doomed to play for a lesser side as some kind of punishment. He chose to sign a contract with said club, something that used to actually mean something in previous years.

In short, I cannot agree when people feel that a good player "deserves" to leave his club to play a bit-part role at a better club. I dislike this notion as it goes against what I believe is great about sport: competitiveness, desire to better yourself and those around you, perseverance, and loyalty.

IF YOU FEEL I'M WIDE OF THE MARK, GIVE ME A LOGICAL REASON WHY

@devilz: one of your posts said buying a full team is a disgrace. So one way to not buy a team is to use youth, that is why I brought it up. There is no other way not to buy a full team without youth or free agents(very unlikely to succeed).

@Footaholic: Exactly! Take a look at Zola with Chelsea from 96-03. He was that one special player we had. That added more interesting things to the BPL, and Chelsea. He helped us win multiple trophies and we repaid him back with a rather high wage and respect from every staff member. Because he stayed with us no matter how good he was and no matter how many offers he got (ManUnited and Liverpool I believe) he still stayed with us. No offense La Liga fans, but honestly watching Barcelona vs Real Madrid fight for the 1st place spot isn't so exciting with all the best players mostly in those two teams.

please, you're simply saying money is a big part of football because Chelsea are becoming like Man City now. Following the trends, I see.
