Just like to say that this is great business for Chelsea . Unfortunately Juan Mata did not fit into the team that was perfectly fine and better without him .

Some of you might think this is stupid to sell such a great midfielder to our rivals . However , I think it is a genius move !! Here is why : Let's not fool ourselves but United is out of the title race and Jose wants to strengthen them ahead of the vital matches against Chelsea's direct title contenders , City and Arsenal . Soon Persie and Rooney will be back and this is just great news for Chelsea and bad news for City and Arsenal !

Yes , it is risky for next season but I do not think Mata will be much of threat against a team that nourished him and knows him very well .

There's a difference between saying Ozil is "way better" than Mata, and Ozil has "much more potential" than Mata.

I agree that Ozil has showed much more potential than Mata. Ozil will one day be a player very similar to Iniesta. But he lacks stamina and work ethic, and is often quite lazy. Mata, on the other hand, works very hard on offense. His stamina and work ethic is much better than Ozil, despite Ozil outclassing him on sheer talent.

That's why I think Ozil is better than Mata, but not by a "big" margin. If I were to rate the players out of 100, I'd give Ozil an 89 and Mata a 86/87. So there's not much of a difference right now, but the gap will grow in the future.

PS. Ozil is misused in Arsenal. Y'all haven't seen that kid flow yet. Wait till Wenger starts to use him properly. You'll see him blaze past defenders then.

I think Mourinho seen this coming for a while and got everything planned. Since he want Rooney in his team now after they played 2nd time United he see a perfect chance to get him.

@marcus I had never seen this clip, and it's a foul but on the second video you can see it's outside the penalty area, but it should have been a red card for ramos.

@Dynastian actually Ozil with arsenal defends quite well, he makes tons of runs, drags defenders wide all the time, I don't think he is misused, but I think he's not yet at his best. He'll only get better with the years.

Penalty or outside the box it is not very clear but what is clear , it was a red card . Should have been a turning point in the match . Ozil made his contribution but referees denied it . Little off the topic ( Similar thing happened in 2008 final Spain vs Germany when Silva should have seen red and also penalty was not given . )

@Dynastian Ozil lacks stamina and that is what slows him down sometimes , but he is not lazy . After Mourinho polishing at Madrid , Ozil's defensive and offensive work increased immensely . When he gets tired a bit , he drops back and uses his talent and precision on the ball . He is a smart player . Cristiano Ronaldo was pissed to hell when he found that Ozil is leaving . Do you think Ronaldo would prefer Mata as replacement ? I do not think so . Isco is same as Mata and I am not sure if Roanldo enjoying it much .

We can agree to disagree . I will still say Ozil is not in the same bracket as Mata . It is a sort of way can be interpreted as an insult to Ozil .

The other question is, will he adapt correctly? Will he be motivated to play in a team that fails everything this season. I hope the Spanish Ozil will not be sitting on the bench. oh and United needed a winger, Valencia or Evra or other stuff aren't trustworthy..
