"We'll see how Atletico Madrid perform this season, then we'll come back to this thread and see who's right."

Sure thing. I wish more of that would happen around here, in fact. ;) Like when some folks were arguing that Costa was better than Suarez, but he wasn't. Like when some people were saying that Suarez was going to score a Messi-esque number of goals last season, "proving wrong the PL fans" (:p), but he didn't.

Remember those?

"You are looking at the negatives of Diego Godin's attitude."

Yes, that's because it's the sort of thing which makes me call someone a bad player. Do you not call someone who plays dirty a bad player? And if someone has to actively RELY upon such dirtiness in order to succeed, why should the case be made that they are more than that? Surely someone who is more than that can succeed without resorting to such things.

Or do you disagree? I'm all ears if you'd like to go ahead and defend dirty football.

"Why do you think Atletico had such a fantastic defensive season last year?"

Felipe Luis, Courtois and the tactics outlined upward in the thread, two of which have now been removed from Atletico's equation.

"If you say that Godin is not a excellent defender, then maybe you aren't watching the same football team as I am. ;)"

Perhaps so, but you're not actually describing any of their football. You're just saying: "he's good." I've given you a number of reasons, based upon observations of his football, why I consider him a sub-elite defender. He's nothing special. Nothing to base another CL challenge or a league title defense upon.

Courtois, Costa and Koke were, but only one of those is still at the club. I will highly surprised if Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic manage to fill that void, based upon what I've seen of either of them.

So, what football ARE you watching, just out of interest?

Nice to see some balls at last.

Suarez scored 4 in the Lane, and nobody said here that Costa was better than Suarez, the thread was about top 5 strikers of the moment, and objectively ( something you dont know ) Costa was Top 5 unless you dont watch la liga wich is not very surprising from you, you put your regular hundred lines while you are completely ignorant of everything happening in Spain.

For the Godin part, being part of the best europeen defense last year, he has also outstanding skills in set pieces and headers, scored the equaliser who gave the title to Atleti, scored in CL final an important goal who could have given his team a historical CL and pretty good in the World cup scoring an important header against Italy, in a group where the last nation was surprisingly England, i though they could have been 3rd but this is another story.

Now, take 2 lines from my post and try to find something that can makes you less wrong than you are ;)

I forgot, Suarez got banned 7 games still had +30, and Suarez isnt Messi/Ronaldo but still he destroyed the lane and some others sadiums if you remember...
All you have to do now is praying for that Costa doesnt do the same, your arguments are done try to find something different to explain your BIAS.
