Why in the F*CK would you say something like this when you damn well know we're in the semis for the FA Cup? True or not, back your team until the end of the season, at the very least.

So Pretty Much , we come to conclusion that is not Wenger but he does not have motivational players and real captain ?

Oh come on, Jack Wilshere isn't a leading figure like Tony Adams. He is a hot headed jackass with an attitude. (which i like) And also a decent player but isn't a leader and a tall figure.

@Dephased why do he need tall figure?

As i said i like his hot headed attitude but that sort of guy is a great character to have in the squad but a leader needs to look like a leader aswell. Someone like Roy Keane is a flawless captain.

Roy Keane was a hot head and never took defeats well , just like Wilshere . I think Wilshere can grow into great captain .

Yes he's personality is great but he hasn't got the leader qualities he's a player you want as 3rd captain. Also the captain should look intimidating in my opinion. AKA Someone tall and muscular.

Tall and Muscular , blue eyes , blonde hair , with a great smile , and good sense of humor ... sounds like Tony Adams's dating profile .. lol

Did you know most great leaders in history of human kind were short man ? Also in history of football , greatest captains are not all that tall .

No not all but it help intimidate opposition and earns them respect and people think twice before going in a duel with them.

I think Mertesacker is the best candidate to be our captain. He is a childhood gooner, passionate, a great defender and the first player on the team sheet. He has all the qualities to be a great leader. And he's tall too (that's for you dephased). Vermaelen shouldn't be captain, because he just doesn't play. And Arteta is a good leading figure but he is not good enough anymore to start for us. And he just gets pushed over by people and it's embarrassing sometimes.

I think that if wilshere gets his attitude sorted, and only keeps the good parts of his grit and character, he can become an amazing captain. You can be small and scary, no one wants to **** with wilshere when he gets mad. He needs to stop getting injured though.

Dephased, I think the difference is that tall players that have that kind of character are more respected, and small players who don't get pushed around are seen as cunts and annoying. It's true and as a small person I find it totally unfair. You see, because he is short, you see him as a "hot headed jackass with an attitude", when what he does is the exact same things players like Vieira used to do. He goes and confront players when he has to. Something no one on the team seems to do because (I have to agree with you) most of them are pussies.

@king Well yeah thats what people see him as, had Jack been 6 feet tall he would be seen as a hardman not a hot headed jackass. However you need that little jackass in your team. One jackass + proper intimidating captain whos a leader + vice captain who drives the team forward + a joker + one or two stars + a hardman and the rest of the team normal bit still show fight is the recipe of a good squad. Roles like supersubs, squadplayers and one club men are also important.

@marcus I never liked gattuso, to me he is a proper c*nt. I don't think grabbing by the neck the opponents manager is anything to be proud of, and I really don't think ronaldinho is about to get punched.

@dephased I can only agree with everything you said. That sounds like a proper squad. We do have some of that already. We have a few stars in Ozil, Ramsey and Walcott (we need more of that), we have our c*nt in Wilshere, we have our leader in Mertesacker, our joker in Podolski, and we have a few one club men in Wilshere and Szczesny, and arguably walcott who's been with us for almost 10 years.

To me, at the start of the season, when we were top of the league, our squad looked amazing. The second part of the season revealed the flaws. But we don't need much to cover the gaps. If we do good business, and wenger and the board spend on big names like they did with Ozil, we'll get closer to that perfect squad. And that's still without mentioning all our younger players that keep getting better (gibbs, ramsey, wilshere, oxlade, szcz).

Dephased your argument is pointless, nationality has nothing to do with your team losses...
And give names of English players you think they can win the League for you, Andy Caroll ?
Liverpool depends on Suarez, City depends on Yaya toure, Silva, Negredo, Aguero, Nasri, Dzeko non of them is English and Chelsea best players this year were Azpi, Hazard, Oscar and Cech...
I really cant see how you can get to this conclusion ? ( Im not saying English players are shit, i respect some youth specially from Everton and Southampthon...

@tiki

I be following you every where because lately you have had so much love for Chelsea :) The Chelsea best player this season has been John Terry , his leadership and organizational skills at the back is the reason why we did not loose against big teams and have the best clean sheet record in EPL .

Suarez ? Why ? He is great player and great scorer so is Sturridge , but no one thinks about how important Steven Gerrard has been whole season ! Stevie G is the drive force of Liverpool ! He gave the players around him confidence and belief. TRUE CAPTAIN AND LEADER ! Not going to go in details how important his role was in Liverpool's midfield ! This days player is rated by how many he scores which i think is really unfair and shame that midfielders , defenders and goalkeepers rarely get recognition .

Edit : exactly what Arsenal needs and Metersacker is not that man . If he was than he would not allow big teams to put 3 goals on average past Sczezny ...

I'm with @tiki_taka on this one @Marcus. Don't get me wrong, I think Terry is definitely one of our best players this season and one of the best leaders of his generations (maybe even the 21st century), but Cesar Azpilicueta is Chelsea's player of the year. The award though will unfairly go to Hazard because attackers are noticed more than defenders.

For me it's like this:

  1. Azpi
  2. Hazard
  3. Cahill
  4. Terry
  5. Oscar

Azpi has been great and yeah probably should get best player of the season but all thanks to Mou and Terry .

To me best player of the team is the one that holds the players together, lifts them up and leads the team when they need a leader the most . John Terry has been there whole season as true big captain not just by being good defender .

He has been a huge boost for the team hence this season we relied on defense more often than our midfielders or forwards because our forwards and midfielders create 40 chances to convert into one goal . If Terry is not there and Cahill pairs with Luiz they both become average defenders who are sloppy and inconsistent . Terry inspires them to play up to their potential . We know how Cahil/Luiz turned out for us last season . Sometimes they can pull a fantastic performance but sometimes it would be plain comedy .

Terry's only real fck up was with Palace own goal but i still would not blame that defeat on Terry because midfield and forwards did not do jack sht through out the game . Also PSG match opening goal by Lavezzi , however , guess who fcked up and Pastore went free into box to score third goal , yeah Azpi. :)) When Terry not having a good day , neither Azpi does .

In every team that Mourinho managed , he had his most trusted general who will be his voice on the field and inspirator and commander of his instructions . In Porto it was Jorge Costa , Inter it was Zanetti , in Madrid Xabi Alonso . These players were fully trusting Mou and Mourinho trusted them and they all had a huge influence on the team .

This thread is about what Arsenal missing , and Arsenal is not missing a player like Azpi or Hazard ( amean it could be a great addition ) , but they are missing someone like Jonh Terry . Arsenal bought Ozil and he made great impact on a whole team but spring came and he just faded in exhaustion with injury on top.
