I'm just glad that American Sniper didn't win the best picture, don't even understand how it was nominated. It was good, but it was just another movie about Iraq war and I seriously don't understand how Interstellar was not nominated for the best picture, for me Interstellar was the best movie of 2014.

I was really disappointed when I saw American Sniper, totally agree with Gennady.

I haven't seen Birdman, Whiplash nor Grand Budapest Hotel, were they that good ?? Together they won probably half of them.

I personally didn't like Interstellar too much. I thought Nightcrawler could've had a go at original screenplay, but then again I haven't seen Birdman.

Birdman and The Theory of Everything were pretty good.

@Gennady 100% Agree, American Sniper was a good film, but for it to be nominated above Interstellar? Interstellar is one of Christopher Nolan's finest films ever if you ask me.

@decentK Haven't seen Grand Budapest Hotel, as I'm not to into comedy films, but Whiplash and Birdman are excellent films.

Really happy about Eddie Redmayne winning best actor. His role of Stephen Hawking is sublime, and one of the best displays of acting I have ever seen.

Dissapointed with the Original Music Score award, I think Hans Zimmer deserved it for Interstellar's sound track, far superior work in my opinion than that of Grand Budapest Hotel's.

I give 0 credit to the awards and their notations, many US propagand films won dozens of awards because they play a role in influencing the opinion, simple example '' 300'' and '' Argo '' had both in common giving bad reputation to Persans and Iran by making them looking like terrorists ( the hidden goal is that US government will attack this country in the future ).

Quentin Tarantino for me is the best, for his objectivity while narrowing a part of humans stories, 0 oscar or award, says it all.

Nobel prizes are same thing, Giving Obama and Sarkozing Nobel prize for bombing Lybian people is like, ''you are a war criminal, but we will give you this prize to clean your crimes and make you look different in History ''

Prizes are given for political and hidden reasons, a way to control actors and films creators, we will give you honour or fame if you make people believe in our ideology.

DuJardin licked some a**es in the movie '' the actor '', the actual awards gavers, and he got instantly Oscars and fame, this is how it works.

You can make the best film ever, if the ideology of the film is not what they want you will get 0 credit, some have been bashed and some got refused any production money...

Of course few awards are given by merit, so they look objective at times,but most of the case, movies and stories are used to control opinion...

@RM17 cheers.

@tiki Great point, but I still like to believe that atleast most of them would be deserved. Though there are some dodgy decisions too.. Btw I've read that Rambo movies are made to hide the fact that USA failed in Vietnam war big time, I think that's good example of your point.

Question to all - why don't comedies ever win anything? Is it so 50/50 thing that only one part likes it and the other one doesn't? Or are the scripts, editing etc in comedies that bad?

Agree about movie industry being used as political tool . Academy Award is a big political charade ! Slowly from the first time I watched I started to realize how full of crap they are and so many actors and actrees , films went without recognition , not even mentioning awards . And Yes, they get the right ones too .

Comedies don't win anything because they are mostly poorly written and have just dumb jokes most of the time . I don't know how those comedies make their money but apparently there are dumb people with no taste in humor who will watch those movies . However, there are good ones . One of my favorite comedy movies that got Oscar recognition is "Life is Beautiful " 1997 . Just amazing movie. I also like movies with Italian comedy icon , Adriano Celentano. This year Birdman got it . It is a drama- satirical movie .

@tuanjin

Leonardo Di Caprio - this man should have had at least 3 oscars by now ! At least ! He is just so natural and plays his roles amazingly !

@Marcus2011 I agree with you, I dont really enjoy comedy films that much. Although Life is Beautiful is a great film, but more of a drama if you ask me.

@Tiki_taka Agreed. Tarantino for me is one of my favorite directors along with Nolan, and Scorsese.

@Tuan & @Marcus Leo and Christian Bale, my two favorite actors currently.. Loved Eddie Redmayne from Theory of Everything, so looking forward to watching more films with him.

I personally like comedies, not all of them obviously but really many, it really depends on your sense/type of humour.

Anyways you guys were talking about Di Caprio & Oscar

So old "joke", but still gets me everytime.

The fact if you are a good actor or producer and you dont win the oscar, it means that you are a good guy for me :)
You dont follow Hollywood dominant ideology community, Di Caprio is one of my top 3.

The one i hate the most is the pro-system, Spielberg, the History re-writer for the good of the system...

@real

Yeah it is a drama . Comedy drama . It is a great plot that draws into the movie and makes you laugh when you least expect . That is what comedy should be about . Not like that movie about North Korea. It is just plain dumb very dumb movie and only reason why it sold out because media and government made this false bs about Korea planning to attack USA and kill actors if the movie comes out . LMAO what a load of crap. but very genius marketing tool . They made way more money then they would have by releasing in theathers first and instead selling on youtube .

I have many favorite actors but Di Caprio is definitely in the top . I never miss his movies . He should have got Oscar when he was a boy for performance in the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape ! " .
Lol some way he reminds me of Jack Nicholson .

The fact that DiCaprio, Pacino, Scorsese, and Tarantino didn't win any/enough big Oscars for their work shows how corrupt the Oscars really are.
