Hey man. I have a question for you? Are you Indian or have Indian origins??? Because your name kinda sounds Indian.

No, we're still doing a 4-3-3. It's different from Carlo because Carlo used a holding midfielder (Alonso), a maestro (Modric), and an attacking midfielder (James). Zidane likes to use a holding midfielder (Casemiro) and two maestros (Kroos and Modric). This changes our game play drastically since neither Kroos nor Modric are able to get the ball up the pitch as quickly as James can. Thus, our counter-attacks are much more dull and there is less fluidity. We are, however, more stable in the midfield since Kroos and Modric can knock the ball around for an eternity. Our attacks under Carlo used to come frequently from James. Nowadays, out attacks come more from our fullbacks (Marcelo and Carvajal). Zidane seems to enjoy using Bale and Ronaldo to drag the opposing wing-backs away and slip the ball into space for Marcelo and Carvajal to cross. That's how we score most of our goals now. It's less direct than Carlo's approach of using Modric and James.

We're certainly more fluid than we were under Benitez, but still not at Ancelotti's level. It's obvious that Real has had the easier route to the finals since they probably faced the easiest team in each round. If Real win, it will be another UCL trophy, but probably one of the least deserved UCL trophies in the past 20 years. We're frankly not good enough a team like Atletico over two legs. We're not as fluid as we used to be since the midfielders touch the ball less now. Zidane wants Modric to be the fulcrum, but he also doesn't want to isolate Bale in order to give the midfielders more control over the game (which is what Ancelotti did). Since Madrid choose to go through Bale more often now, the midfielders, Ronaldo, and Benzema all touch the ball a little less. This takes away the fluidity of the game since Bale is certainly the least fluid of all the Real Madrid forwards and midfielders. We're still performing quite well. I just wish a player like James or Isco played instead of Kroos in order to add more offensive fluidity.

I agree. I think City will drop more points and the game vs. Arsenal will be crucial (unless they both draw that game and win their remaining games). I don't see Arsenal losing to Norwich or Villa, but I definitely see Southampton and Swansea could do us a solid against City. With that being said, we still have to defeat Leicester and West Ham which is going to be difficult but very doable. We are hungry. That's all that matters.

He is fantastic isn't he? That just shows that potential is only realized with game time. You can't expect a player come in and instantly impress. Martial was a one off.

Borthwick-Jackson is one of the better youngsters to come through the academy. I am really surprised by how mature and exceptional his performances have been. He can only get better at 18. I think even though Blind is clearly not a CB, his positioning sense when combined with Smalling's more direct approach to defending (heading, tackling, etc.) creates the synergy that we need. Plus, his passing range from deep has dug us out of holes several times this season. Not to mention he isn't too back at set pieces. I'd say keep him as CB. Schneiderlin is not a flop mate; he has had several good games against great opposition this season. He just needs to be paired with the right midfielder in the right games.

I agree with your assessment. However, I am beginning to question whether the team that LvG put out today was in fact his choice or were there others, such as Giggs, who made the decision for him because of his sheer abysmal lineups recently and pressure from the board. If that's the case then idk if there is any need for him to stay. I am all for giving Giggs the interim job as of today because frankly I wasn't impressed with the way things panned out. As far as I am concerned, a bottom half club came to Old Traffor and stole a point from right under our nose.

This team is simply pathetic.

So do you think Giggs would be an adequate replacement for LvG?

I'll take him. He definitely has what it takes to succeed and get us 20 goals a season. BTW that UCL performance was pathetic mate...What you think?

Even with the 'same' defense, we let in 17 more goals than Barcelona in the league last season. Of course Modric made us lose 50% of our fluidity and possession, but 17 more goals conceded than Barca is atrocious...

I still have to put my faith in Benitez. He hasn't done anything to not be given a chance to shine at Madrid. Of course your point is valid, Benitez's teams aren't known for their fluidity. But our main reason for failing to win trophies in the last 5 season is our sloppy defense. If Benitez can shore up our defense and still maintain our offensive threat, then we shouldn't be too badly off. Mourinho played really defensively and quite dirty in 10/11, but we still won a trophy. Granted, Mourinho is miles ahead of Benitez as a manager, but I'm just saying that our team has experienced success as a defensive-minded squad.

Haha, thanks. Our 22-game win streak was thoroughly impressive last season, by far our best performances. I thought we would be able to play like that the entire season but both James and Modric got injured for extended periods of time. We were less solid than out 2013/14 team during that time, but more fluid and more dangerous. One of the most successful and fluid offensive-minded teams I have seen in my life was us on our 22-game win streak.

Isco was originally just a CAM under Pellegrini and Ancelotti, but when Ancelotti switched from 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 halfway into the 2013/14 season, Isco was benched in favor of an ADM/Alonso/Modric midfield that worked like a charm. In order to win his place back as a central midfielder (instead of an AM), Isco was forced to learn how to play defense, and he did an excellent job of it. Despite having a small physical frame, Isco now tracks back in every play and racks up so many fouls that even Xabi Alonso would be impressed. His tackling, interceptions, and work rate has improved drastically, enough to make him a natural AM and CM now. If you can tune into one of the Madrid matches from last season you can see how he plays as a CM. Benitez seems to favor 4-2-3-1 more, so I don't think Isco will play as a CM under him anymore, but rather revert back to his AM position.

I think Pedro will do well for us. He might not be as explosive as Di Maria, but he plays smarter, makes better runs and contributes well defensively. He has the discipline of a Barca player, which Van Gaal will appreciate. I am really hoping we snag Otamendi though. I feel like with him we can rest assured that our defense will not be a limiting factor. But as far as midfielders, wingers and strikers are concerned I say we have enough. The reason why I don't think we need a striker is because we can deploy Memphis as a forward to rest Rooney if necessary. Give Wilson, Pereira and Januzaj a chance to play more and I guarantee that the foundation of a new United team will be set in stone for the next decade.

I think the transfer fee is £5.75m. What's the source for the 20 mil? If that's the case, we've overpaid for a 30 year old player.

I cannot believe this happened. I guess this means no Schneiderlin. This signing is actually perfect for us assuming he plays well.

Darmian? I admit I had no idea who this guy was. Think he's a good buy?
