Bro... if they did it the way you're suggesting, Ronaldo's 2nd goal might have been disallowed if the linesman made a (understandable) mistake and raised his flag before the goal went in. This way, entire goals and plays can happen, and if there is offside then VAR can rectify that. It's honestly one of the few good reasons for VAR to exist and this is a good application of it
