When Benzema had a goalless streak of over 1200 minutes with France between june 2012 and october 2013, he became the symbol of the need for change in the national team. Plus the sex tape scandal, plus various traffic offenses (the biggest led to a 18.000 € fine and 8 months without license). I guess that's just too much for Deschamps.

You ppl seem to forget all the drama the french team went through for example in 2010... Deschamps wanted to build on new players that were a good fit in his strategy. And Benzema was not part of it. Hate it or like it, it is still Deschamps who picks the team, and by winning the world cup there shouldnt be a debate. All this talk about racism is just unneccesary because french team is full of players of mixed background.

@tiki_taka: do you remember the Zahia Dehar incident? Add to that Valbuena and all the drama surrounding the NT during those years... and you will see the bigger picture of why Deschamps wanted to build from zero with new players.

There IS no sportive reason behind Benzema " Ban " from thé NT, he was found Innocent. Karabatic was found guilty for match fixing ans still playing, Neymar and Ronaldo got tax and rape issues. There IS not even a debate on them. Brainwashed people here in France all our politics have issues with justice for corruption issues. They are still there to rule a whole country.

Benz is not a saint or as innocent as you want him to be. But it actually doesnt matter anyway, it is still Deschamps who picks the team. And if he doesnt want to pick a certain player then he is not obliged to do so. Overall the NT has been doing good so there shouldnt be any debate. However, if the team was a disaster then Deschamps might had to explain why not picking players. It is the first comment that brings up politics and stuff with the whining about racism.

If you mean the handball decision, the rules state that if the ball bounces to the hand in short distance(did from his head) it is not handball.

Other than that I agree with you, weird calls on both sides. France could have had a pen thru Griezmann (he thought that Antoine dove?) or Hernandez could have had a red.

All in all France are serious contenders once more and Turkey are a joy to watch when they are just so full of passion.

Tbh I don't think it was a pen on griezmann but I still don't understand why this foul was given against sissoko (on a offensive 4 vs 2 for France). For the handball decision, regarding other similar situations in other matches I think it should have been a pen (but wouldn't have changed anything as Giroud scored right after this). And yes other than that, many fouls from Turkey were not called and Lucas should have been given a red card.
