I believe the Ballon D'or is given for the calendar year, which means also the first half of this season.

The unfairness is to have awarded the prize already if entire 2018 is to be included, not that Messi should have had it over Modric because of recent form. I’m not denying that Messi is head above others at the moment, but that is not a valid reason to belittle Modric. What’s apparent is that WC performances weighs heavily in addition to winning UCL.

My real problem with Modric winning it is that it reminds us of how W Sneijder was completely dissed in 2010 as his overall performances were better than Modric, yet with similar team achievements. To me there is hypocrisy in that. And this is also were some biased Messi fans are exposed. Many still disses Sneijder for 2010 but now cries over Messi. Fans and Ballon d’or are equally one eyed. Ballon d’or shouldn’t be existing.

I defended modric wining ballon d or because he deserved it. I am commenting here because you bought up issue of 2010 and purposely left 2013 & 2014 robbery where Nuer and Ribery awards stripped. It is just easy to remember 2010 robbery but forgetting Neur achievement that doesn’t add up and shows you have priority in your judgement.
