Fair result overall. San Mames is always a very painful place to visit and get points. Bilbao did more than enough to deserve a point especially based on how they were flying in the first half. Not sure why all the hate on Courtois though. He cover the near post like any goalie should and expects his defenders cut off the cross. All of them were MIA on the goal especially Marcello covering the corner flag and Ramos who gets beat inside.

@josh881 Actually Mariano not the best on top, but he got what Benzema lacks, selfishness and a killer mentality in front of the goal.

Horrible and rare blunder from Ramos at the counter goal, he totally ignored his man.

How are ppl even complaining about courtois on twitter, they are making madrid fans look so stupid. Marcelo was covering wide when there was nothing to cover, ramos didnt follow his man or didnt react to the pass courtois comes out to close the space which every keeper does the player has a good look to whip the ball across with his toe. Fans saying he had to come out faster thinks he is usain bolt and ppl saying put in navas again are just blaming navas next time he concedes a goal. I remembered when they were all crying they needed a better gk the first game against bayern

Bilbao played really good, Williams should have stayed on though he was causing a lot of trouble, you could see the team was really slow when he came off.

Bilbao players were steaming, sometimes a bit too much resulting in such unnecessary cards. And they really stood up well against RM with their high pressing game. Real madrid wasn't that bad actually, but were today lacking killer instinct presence in front of the opponents goal. Most finishes were quite lame. Especially Benzema was lacking that killer instinct.

+1, Unai Simon had a really good game also, he's a one to watch.

Of course! Benzemas lack of killer instinct is that he is not selfish enough, which he needs to be when Ronaldo is gone. When he does finish it is often good.

I agree, he was excellent prior to this game with Bale. He is 1 goal away from the whole of last season's tally, which is poor for a ST but Ronaldo was there to cover too I guess, He has a lot of pressure to deal with because Mariano is waiting if he isn't selfish enough.

Really good game. Enjoyed watching this alongside the sampdoria game. Athletic were brilliant in the first half. Overall, a deserved point as they never looked like losing. Hats off to Unai Simon in goal - brilliant performance (he was 4th choice at the beginning of the season).

Selling Arrizabalaga for a world record goalie fee and then their next goalie shines. Now that is good business :)

Alison is world record goalkeeper

No he's not, mate. Kepa cost 6m pounds more.

Allison is on higher wages and his add add ons are more expensive so when both goalkeeper contract runs out, Alison will be more expensive then kepa

I was honestly expecting Madrid to win this. Bilbao gives both barca and madrid hard time.

lol especially Benzema. He almost looked afraid or confused that there is no Ronaldo to pass the ball to instead of finishing.

The benefits of Ronaldo's goal hungry attitude haha. With so many stars, there's no one key player that feels like the top dawg. I.E Ronaldo in any team, or Messi etc... I think a team like Madrid need that type of player.
