Your Top 5 Midfielders Today!
Dynastian98 12 years ago
Real Madrid 483 7140

Post your opinion on the 5 best midfielders today.

NOTE : You can only post five and they have to be numbered from 1 - 5, 1 being best after all (Only 5 are alowed to be in your list. I don't care if you put Xavi and Iniesta tied for No. 1, as long as you only have three players after them). Wingers are NOT allowed. That means Ribery, Robben, Ronaldo, etc. are NOT allowed. Any midfield positions are allowed, Def. Mid, Centre Mid, Att. Mid. Left and Right midfielders are NOT allowed (e.g. Gareth Bale).

Enjoy~

  1. Andres Iniesta
  2. Xavi Hernandez
  3. Mesut Ozil
  4. David Silva
  5. Xabi Alonso

NOTE : I should have put this before. You are allowed to make comparisons ANY way you want to, but you MUST define your comparison [e.g. age (old or young must be stated), dribbling or other specific aspect, set pieces, biggest impact on team, most successful (has to still be playing), etc.].

As shown here, my comparison are the five midfielders who have the BIGGEST IMPACT on their respective clubs.

In case anyone needs ideas, here are some.

Iniesta, Xavi, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Alonso, Kroos, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Pastore, Fabregas, Sneijder, Moutinho, Lucas Moura, Ganso, Modric, Wilshere, Song

NOTE : If more than ten people seem to respond to this thread successfully, logically, and properly, I will make more about Wingers, Defenders, Strikers, Goalkeepers, All Time Positions, etc. Just ask. Cheers~

@knibis
Please define your comparison. Is it the best mids in the world in your opinion, or is it the most accomplished, or what? I wrote the rules above on my post. PLEASE read carefully without posting random stuff. I want your lists to be organized and not get spammed by criticism.

@Ramaboy10
I believe you got that from FIFA games. Winger is NOT the same as LAM/RAM. AM on the sides usually move inwards, to set up the striker (Samir Nasri, since Man City play with 3 AMs). Wingers tend to drift further and further to the sides to deliver crosses and be on the end of plays (Ronaldo, since Madrid play with 2 wings and an AM). AM's tend to be more of a dribbler, distance shooter and playmaker (Ronaldinho for Barca, Samir Nasri and David Silva for City), whereas wingers tend to bbe specialists in crossing, finishing, and speed (Ribery, Robben, Ronaldo, Nani, Valencia).

No particular order. These are five of my personal favorites, anyone can rate them as they please...

Andrea Pirlo - I can't believe no one listed him. He dominates the midfield for both Juventus and Italy.

David Silva - My favorite player. There isn't much to say about him that hasn't been said already. Another midfield maestro.

Bastian Schweinsteiger - He plays a similar position to that of Andrea Pirlo's; Right in front of the defensive line with attacking/play-making abilities, but brings a more physical touch to the game.

Alex Song - More of a defensive midfielder I would say, but he is great in both creating chances and defending. Great control of the ball, and knows how to use his body to his advantage.

Angel Di Maria - Is he considered a midfielder? I love the intensity he brings to the game. Has a large bag of EFFECTIVE tricks. Seeing as he's still a youngster, there's an endless amount of room for him to keep growing, and to work on his attitude, which can fly off the wall sometimes.

Honorable mentions: Xavi and Iniesta go without being said. Yaya Toure, Santi Cazorla, Abou Diaby (He's been playing very well since the start of this season), Claudio Marchisio, Sergio Canales and Jack Wilshere. (Get well soon!)
