Starting this thread just in case anyone wants to share some thoughts about the WC

I didnt like the PK for Spain but I understand why it was one. I mean, when a player never sees the opponent and is just playing the ball, I have never agreed it was a sever foul, or especially a PK. That goal changed a lot of things for France, but they really not got into their game. Crazy how much different they looked in this one.

England - I am actually pulling for England in the semis and should they get past Arg, in the finals vs Spain. They are way overdue for a title given the talent that comes out of the country and EPL being as strong as it is.

Dont count Arg out though. Messi is Messi and it does seem FIFA would like to see them in the final. haha

Football wins

People forget that a strong offense is a first defense. When you keep the pressure on, its harder for them to find their own groove and grow into the match, much less have the time to just work the ball around and take chances. Of course, you have to have the team built for that, which England had.

This game can be so cruel and humbling. Almost any other sport does not produce the same any day upset potential as football. Tis why you play the game, because you never know. Factor in luck, which every team needs, and then you have the Cape Verde's of the world show perennial powers that you still need to show up and ball.

I kinda hate this argument, if England tried to attack and conceded to 1:1, everyone would talk: why not defend when you're winning?

biggest problem was after Rice went down with that formation, midfield was absolutely non existent, not sure if Kane was on the patch past 30 minutes and despite rest of the players defending, both wings were more open than mia khalifa legs

Problem is that England parked the bus way too early.

This is such a disappointing final. On paper you would expect a back and forth battle. Looking at the stats how the fuck did Argentina only managed 3 shots and no on target. Even Cabo Verde managed more shots and target attempts lol. How do you go from playing the way you did against England to playing like this in the final?

Thank god they won it in 2022. Can you imagine losing it ON PENS and then losing it again 4 years later playing like that.

Finals are typically close affairs until more towards the end when teams are spent. Of course you have outlier matches when a team scores early and it forces the match to open up more, but again, a lot of finals see goals later in the match.

This final however was about as lopsided as you can get statistically, aside from the score. Arg didnt have a shot on goal the entire first 90!!! Not one shot!!!! smh

Spain grew in the tournament and while they didnt look as good as France, they did what they had to and had enough for each team they played. Well deserved win for them.

The 3rd place match was a joke, but was entertaining. France gave two shits about playing in the first half, and as if they agreed to stay in the locker room, Eng pooped the bed in the second half, just not as much. From a normal American viewer standpoint, this game was good. From my standpoint, it was a joke.

The tournament over all was fantastic though. Unfortunately with adding more teams, you have bigger mis-matches, but we saw several minnow teams push the big dogs back. The golden boot was fun with several players challenging for it.

Nope Spain coach preferred a off the line keeper for his system xD. He bat Messi in the middle was the only big play for him.

How Kobe and raya got no minutes was crazy.
