Who do you think will win the premier league this season?
spanish 9 years ago Edited
Real Madrid, Spain 14 343

The current champions Chelsea are struggling this season languishing at 15th spot. The only real challengers looks like city, Arsenal and man united. City and Arsenal look like the 2 most realistic with their convincing performances and form while United seem to be struggling to score goals which is holding them back. Some would say Rooney is the reason for this and martial should play up top. City and Arsenal are scoring goals for fun recently and haven't been leaking too many goals this season. Liverpool have got a quality manager but I reckon their squad isn't good enough this season especially when many of their attackers are injured. What's your thoughts guys?

I think we'll be in the race until the last weeks. It'll be either us or man city. I think the team with the least injuries will win the league. Right now City have more important injuries to Silva and Aguero, while we have our entire right midfield injured. We saw this season and the last that Arsenal are now capable of beating big teams (unless they are chelsea lol).

@marcus with Matic off form I don't see who is better than Coquelin in the league at shielding the defense. Fernandinho is probably as good. Stats show that. Cazorla has been amazing at CM since wenger moved him from CAM. I think this duo put together with Ozil who is playing amazing this season is about as good as the trio fernandinho-toure-silva.

I think our weak point is striker, we have two good strikers walcott and giroud, while City have a world class striker, aguero. Our lack of great strikers is like their lack of great wingers. We have Alexis, they have Sterling and Navas. Honestly I think Alexis is as good as both put together. If aguero keeps getting injuries I don't see how city are stronger than us. Our back 4 is more solid, our full backs are better, and our goalkeeper is world class. Hart is not.

I have stoped counting on wilshere he's more like a bonus at this point. He'll probably play a grand total of 10 league games this season.

So our weaknesses are at the striker position, and at coquelin's position. Who do we have in case he's injured, Flamini and Arteta. I love them both but really, they're not good enough. I wish we had bought schneiderlin for cover, but his wages demands were too high and he probably doesn't like sitting on the bench anyways. Maybe we could try and buy krychowiak from Seville in the winter, and have him and coq battle it out for the position.

If our spine stays fit (Cech, Koscielny, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ozil, Alexis), we have a very good shot. Manutd, I really don't see it. Their squad really is not that good.

"Stats show that"

Can you provide us with those stats? I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, just curious on what you mean exactly.

Oliver The Giant Playboy

LOL, im dying man :D. I have to agree with you with probably all except Coquelin/Cazorla partnership.
And inconsistency is the definition of Arsenal probably.

Thanks guys. I think you can also add Lucas Leiva in the mix as well. Currently has more tackles won than any other player in the BPL and is finally, after a couple of years of injuries, playing regularly and showing signs of why he won our player of the year a couple of years ago.

Lol I am just trying to back my argument why I think Arsenal won't win league .

I have no doubt about Coquelin abilities as CDM . He is right now arguably best CDM in EPL . What I have doubts about is Cazorla partnering him . It works out well but in long run he needs someone bigger and stronger next to him or at least to back them on the bench . Arteta and Flamini are not good enough for big club like Arsenal . Small games yes they can do the job but even then they manage to mess up .

You said it yourself if you had brought Krychowiak or Schneiderlin then I would think Arsenal has better chances . You had a shot at Vidal but you did not take it . If Vidal was here next Coqelin then I would watch out for Arsenal even with Oliver as main striker .

And striker ? You need striker that will score at least 20 + goals . I thought Walcott could do it but he is constantly getting injured and can't quiet settle down for that role . So you need alternative . Like why in the world Arsene flew all the way to Monaco watched Martial and did not sign him ... come on , you should have gone all in after giving so much importance like flying yourself to see prospect .

You are hoping that your spine will stay fit and you will win . Big club should have big squad and not rely on hopes but more on calculations . If 1st team player is out there should be someone just as good or close to as good to replace him .

Who do you have to replace Koscielny ? Cazorla and Coquelin with Arteta and Flamini ?

As far as Wingers , I don't think City has worse wingers . De Bruyne is not natural winger but he does the job perfectly then Navas is a winger who plays as starting for Spain . Samir Nasri would have gone into Arsenal team right now without a problem . Alexis Sanchez is the only standout from all the rest of Arsenal wingers .

And now we have injured Hector Bellerin, RIP Arsenal chances in every aspect.

Whoah Bellerin was very vital against Bayern ...

Just recently Wenger got all defensive about criticism from some pundit about his fitness training team methods . However, if Mr Wenger reads this :)) do notice mate , no other club in EPL gets so many injuries every year as your team does . That is not bad luck .

@quikzyyy a small injury to our RB doesn't ruin our chances to win anything. You're way too pessimistic. Debuch is off form right now but remember we won at the allianz with Jenkinson at RB. And debuchy is a very capable player when he's at his best.

@marcus yeah I'm trying to back my argument why I think we can win the league. We have different opinions it seems. Also our defense is solid enough. We have very good cover for all five roles. Ramsey has been playing RM but he can be cover for cazorla. The only spot where we're really thin is Coquelin's. Also we appear thinner right now because we have plenty of injuries :
Ramsey
Wilshere
Welbeck
Walcott
Oxlade chamberlain
Rosicky
Bellerin
Ospina

hopefully this is the worst we'll get this season.

I'm not pessimistic, just trying to be objective. Debuchy couldn't even hold Sheffield players what he can do against Costa?

in the words of wenger : "Debuchy will play. He works very hard in training. He has my trust. He should be physically ready." roughly from his press conference. We'll see tomorrow if Debuchy is a catastrophe.

I would rather see Chambers, he has been terrible on CB, but on RB he was great.

@quikzyyy what ? Chambers is awful at RB. Remember Chambers vs Montero last season ? Imagine now Chambers vs Costa. Chambers turns very slowly that's why he's a better CB than RB

If you think Chambers is better at CB you certainly didn't seen him play, now even Koscielny is out, I have no hope of getting any points today.

Judging by the season so far Manchester City and Arsenal will duke it out for the title.

Look at the mountain of problems Arsenal already are facing . It is also bad for morale that players are out and main players that usually stay fit not getting enough rotation so they will be exhausted in Spring .

If Arsenal buys someone in January i will rethink my prediction but so far City all the way . Cold blood with big advtanage . Did you guys see what City was doing with Seville ? City has been very different this year . Much more dynamic and very attacking but also solid defensively .
