Rowley and Chelsea8 (and now gonzi) have said my thought out loud. But to be sincere, theres no reason to compare the two of them, we should just enjoy seeing two of the best footballer of all playing great game.

c.ronaldo is a great player, but messi is more of a complete player, he can act as a 10 whereas c.ronaldo can not.

@Emobot7 thanks for supporting me on that! I also think they ARE the worlds best, among others, ballon d'or have got it right definitely, which contrasts from other peoples views about ballon d'or

Ronaldo is the best in the world, why does it matter who anyone likes or what Ronaldo is like?

@Lilywhite So because someone is one of the best in world, it doesn't matter to know what he is like? I think that way of thinking is a little boring. We could learn so many thing watching Ronaldo and trying to understand how he is as a player and as a human being. I mean, he is clearly a very competitive person and that what make him such a incredible sportman, he worked hard to become so good, wich prove that with enough drive, hard work and trust, one can become anything he chose to be. He is a true inspiration for younger player despite seeming childish or spoiled at time when playing with his team. Talking about Ronaldo, doesn't he seem to have matured a bit through this season? Just an opinion. :)

@Rowley Exact, too many people think their must be a better between the two but they are really not the same kind of player, sometime one will impress more in season but fact are, no matter what happen in the future, when you managed to win at least three ballon d'or, I think its fair to say your one of the best. Messi and Ronaldo both kick ass. :D Beside, the two of them don't think of each other as a rival to surpass, they said so themselve, when 2 player respect each other, I don't you should argue on who come on top between the two. Huge respect for both of them. ;)

@Sun Well, he certainly is one of the best, wether he is the very best remain up to debate, but I don't really care about that. I'm just happy I was able to learn to apreciate him as a player and a person, it made football a lot more interesting for me this year. ;)

When people say that ronaldo is the best then it's just their opinion but when you say messi is the best it's a fact proven by his stats.

@chelsea

http://messivsronaldo.net/

Go through the years, Messi dominated a few, Ronaldo dominated a few, but they're really even in terms of stats. The only place Messi really beats Ronaldo is trophies, but a large part of that is due to Pep's Barca team that Messi was on.

That debate has been going on for years. And will be for many years to come

  • Playing style, jaw dropping actions, creativity: Messi.
  • Killer instinct: Ronaldo (although Messi is insane too)
  • Both can make opponents sh!t their pants HARD whenever they play.
  • Both unique in their own way, make their market values equally strong IMO.

  • For natural football fans, probably watching Messi is more interesting.
  • For those who care about style (similar to what Beckham had), ego, something special that way Ronaldo definitely beats it. This is NO LESS that a great player who attracts the crowd because of the skills. Football in the end is an entertaining still.

Messi is more a team player because of his creative mind too. Ronaldo is a bit selfish but that makes him the player he is today.

We are so lucky to witness both.

what makes football unique is because of its numerous skills, plays, styles etc. Everyone has their perspective in how they see the game. Ronaldo for me is a team player. You dont need to just pass the ball to consider yourself a team player. You can help the team in your own way. Ronaldo supports the team by his positioning and run.

Ozil himself said:

Mesut Özil: "Cristiano made football easier for me back then, his movement with or without the ball is incredible"

People underestimate Ronaldo passing ability.

First they said that Ronaldo has less assist than Messi, so he is selfish. When Ronaldo began to be par on assists with messi, they than say he doesn't go deep.

People will always underestimate Ronaldo any way possible. When you ask them why Messi is better, here are the replies:

  • Messi is better dribbler
  • Messi has better vision
  • Messi is magic
  • Messi is nice
  • He doesnt dive
  • He is not arrogant

Aside of dribbling and Passing, there arent much of a big difference. People are too into dribbles, nutmegs etc. Even if messi was quiet the entire season and suddenly score a goal like the one against Getafe, he will instantly get his image back. I'm not taking anything away from Messi, in fact I totally understand why some think he is without a doubt best in history. Some may disagree. But making a huge difference or increasing the ladder between the two is just plain nonsense. I don't care what most player does in the field, as long as the team wins, I'm fine with anything.

Take into account that if Messi declines before reaching 30, his legacy will change completely.

For example, Ronaldinho was amazing for 2-3 years, thats it. For me he is a bit overrated, Neymar will soon surpass him or has already did.

Players should be recognized for being consistent and for being in shape, and not a season or two wonder.

Hahahahahah sunsflash are you kidding me? Where is the dribbling stat? Where is the chances created stat? We all know that cristiano always waits in the penalty box to recieve the balls to score, the website you linked only proves my point when i said that ronaldo is a better striker and it's a close one but if we look at the overal stats including dribbles, pass accuracy, chances created and so on then ronaldo wouldn't even be close to messi.

And i'm a neutral fan who likes ronaldo alot, unlike some deluded people on this forum.

@rayex messis dribbles and chances created allowed suarez to get the pichici and all the other strikers who were at Barcelona before suarez.
