^^^ do you take the midnight train on occasion?
why do french people dont support french teams?
Good question, a lot of people are starting to support PSG in France specially Kids, Marseille is the most historical Club with his CL and other titles, Saint Etienne and Lyon have a lot of fans too, Monaco ? well they maybe buy fans :) (joking)...
I personally support Marseille in France, our French culture is more about playing Football than beiing fanatic fans, its a bit different from England.... I prefer the English way btw.
I think that the choice of the team is very dificult to justify, im a Barça fan since 1997, i was young and personnally if one day Marseille plays against Barça i will be supporting Barça, i cant tell you why :)

@tunais why do Asians support United?
@tunais why do Koreans support United?
The reason I support Arsenal is I only supported the national team when I was young, and all the best players were playing at Arsenal (henry, vieira, pires, wiltord, petit). The other reason is I moved a lot, from town to town because of my dad's work, and the only town where I stayed a long time (12 years) didn't have a football culture, but were crazy about rugby. They have one of the best teams in Europe :
Edit : but a lot of french people actually support french teams. I've lived in Lyon for 3 years now and people are very passionate about the team here, and right now it's not going well and you can sometimes feel that people are on edge the nights after the games.
@KingHenry what team/town is that? I know that as far as french rugby goes, Toulouse is up there with the best.
that's ASM from Clermont Ferrand. That's when they won their first ever french championship title after 14 lost finals. People talked about a curse. The whole city went crazy and I went partying with everyone, people naked in the fountains, and of course a lot of beer. By the way people of clermont ferrand can't stand toulouse. They are the Man U of french rugby I would say (meaning that they are the team people expect to see winning the title). I went to see their games a few times, but stoped following rugby after I moved. In clermont ferrand everything is about rugby, and football is a sport for sissies. The football team is very bad and at the bottom of ligue 2 right now.
You explained things better than me, a lot of cities dont have as n1 sport Football, for example i live in Le mans and it is known for its Basketball team and for the Le mans race : ''24 hours of le mans "
Toulouse,Toulon,Clermont are also more known for their love to Rugby than to Football.
Montpellier are known first for Handball and only few cities in France have an English atmosphere, Lyon,Paris,Saint etienne, Marseille, Bordeaux,Lille....
A lot of French people prefer playing others sports than Football and the fervor are not the same, My parents are more race car fans and they never bring me to see Le mans playing, even in the city, the team results are never a conversation issue so people behind them are very few....
