Victor Valdes' Barca career is ended. :( No world cup either.

The news has just came out after the match. Victor Valdes looks set to have played for Barcelona for the last time after tearing his anterior knee ligament in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Celta and will miss out on the World Cup this summer too. Valdes has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will require surgery. (Goal)

This is really really sad. A long loyal servant ends his glorious career for Barca this way... and probably misses this world cup is the saddest thing that can happen...

Best of luck!!! Football fans are behind you :(

Disappointing end to a fantastic season. Undoubtedly the best individual season Valdes has had to date.

@Dynastian: true, this season is his best season for Barca... and he's going to miss the most important part.... :(....

From now on, we'll be able to see how integral Valdes has really been this season. He made some insane saves in big matches this season, and now we'll be able to see just how important those saves are in covering up the holes Barca has in their defense.

What a shame. He was doing really well.

But then for Spain would de Gea be the GK for the World Cup?
He deserves it.

@Man_utd

The GK for the WC is Casillas. The other GK's being considered are most likely De Gea, Reina, Lopez, and Guaita.

Unbelievable and extremely unlucky. It goes to show how injury-prone players are when they are performing basic maneuvers. You disrupt your stream of consciousness for one second, doing something you have done over a thousand times, and something like this can happen. I just speak from experience. Another example is when David Villa broke his leg.

It looks like David de Gea will be going to Brazil after all...

But hasn't Casillas not played for a long time. I know he's good and all but de Gea is the future.

He is probably the most important player to us after Messi... This upset me so much. His last season at Barca after a long and glorious career and it had to end this way.. I am so angry.

Pinto has never let us down, but this still is a huge blow to our chance at a major trophy this season..

He injured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament. Terrible injury :(

You can see that it was very serious...

Not at all. Casillas played this month against Italy, and 9 games for Spain in 2013 (and he's conceded 6 goals in 16 games this season). He's still very much favorite to take the #1 spot.

This looks like a big blow for Barca which can harm all of their 3 potential titles... Pinto can do well but I dont think he can handle all of those big matches...

I think De Gea deserves everything to be in Brazil. But I think Casillas will be picked by both Spain and Real soon, he still looks very sharp, and Lopez's form starts to drop recently

Unlucky for Valdes, he had a really great season, everybody must admin it. For WC I think he wouldn't be in the net anyway. Casillas still biggest aspirant for Spain's no. 1.

David De Gea should go to Brazil ! He is amazing goalkeeper !

No offense to Valdes and I hope for his quick recovery . He is fantastic goalkeeper and certainly did not deserve to end his career with such a terrible injury .

However, this injury did not change much with his status in Spain national team . No matter how good Valdes performs he is always behind Casillas . Valdes would have been warming the bench anyway , so whether it is on the bench of spain or in the stands , same experience.

Apparently:
Barcelona will offer Victor Valdes (32) a contract renewal if he can't join another club this summer because of his knee injury.

Great gesture from Barcelona.

6 Month, i think his career is far from finished.
Anyway, it could have been his last game under Barça shirt. I hope he will stay.

With this incident, he might stay. :) Do you Barca's fans think that's a good think if he stays, before this season there is a large amount of fans showed their unhappiness with the goalie (it's fair as he made some silly mistakes that even costed them trophy)?
