@tuan_jinn, Cleverley, Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini. Those are our current crop of central midfielders. Now please tell me which of those you would choose over Sneijder. At the age of 30, he will be a great asset for the next 4 years. His passing, creativity, and set-piece abilities are top notch. Granted, I would love to see Strootman too, but he is injured at this time.

I wouldn't say any those mids I would choose over Sneijder, what I meant was: if we sign a new mid, we must find some one who is world class, and will be on top-form for the next 5 years. Snijder simply just not the one.

Snijder can become your Pirlo . He is smart on the ball and keep up with fast pace by playing smart . The way Pirlo played against England was master class . Snijder is a player who can replicate such performances .

Now, why would I believe a Chelsea's fan who want to weaken us? :D

JK,

I dont think Snijder can replicate Pirlo. Playing at Galatasaray is already set him back.

But I do agree, he is still very good, I just dont know for how much longer... he seems cant offer stability week in week out anymore

@TheGame: Sneijder is one of my favourite Dutch players after Nistelrooy. I hated Fergie for not signing him 4 years ago. He was perfect replacement for Scholes! I think he might have 2 great years left, 2 good years and finally 2 mediocre years (age catching up, slows down, won't go for tackles...etc). He will be worth atleast 20-30 Mil and add his wage bill which will be close to 200-250k/week. And all this for 3 years? Even though he is better than all our midfielders, the investment is a gamble. What happens when LVG leaves? I am sure he will be done in 4-6 years. In my opinion, we need to convert Rooney into a midfielder. He has all the qualities of a midfielder- his passing range, ability, vision...etc. Then get Vidal or Strootman with the money. We will have 6 years to find a playmaker, instead of 3 years. Its a win-win situation. But 4 years ago, Sneijder would have been awesome. We would have probably had atleast 1 champions league trophy in his reign.

LOL

Snijder is enjoying a good start in World Cup . 2 games , one assist and 5 chances created . He was crucial during Spain match and showed that can still compete against one of the best in the world .

Him playing in Galatasaray has damaged his career a bit because of league quality but I think it also revived him . League was comfortable for him to improve and get back to his top form without constantly being injured. Also , Gala had somewhat successful runs in CL and played top teams , so Snijder had chances to shine against best and He did very well . He is a huge star in Galatasaray also whole Turkey and now he is vital player for Holland.

If he comes with reasonable price , I think he is a great buy .

@tuan_jinn @ashwin1729, well I agree with both of you. I don't know if I would choose Kroos or Schweinsteiger over Sneijder, but I would definitely choose Vidal, Modric, Pogba, Iniesta or Toure over him. Which goes to prove that there aren't many "world class" midfielders who we have a chance of signing at this time. There are others in the mould of Clasie and Pjanic who I think can improve significantly under LVG if they come that would be a boost for the squad. I think one of the major weaknesses of Sneijder is his ability to stay fit. If he can manage to do that, I won't be worried about his age or the fact that he might be getting slower. He is the type of player who will adapt very well, because he is an all round good player. Almost like Scholes was when he got older and was given the center midfield role.

Edit: And lets not forget that he should have won the 2010 Ballon d' Or :)

@TheGame: I think Shaw to United has been finalized for 34M pounds. Dafuq did the world come to? For an 18 old left back? I would have got 4 Daley Blinds for that price!

@ashwin1729, it's ridiculous, I know. But you know how inflated the price of young English players are. I still would prefer Blind or Rodriguez over him.

@TheGame: Yes, with this transfer I really wonder what’s wrong with Ed's head? Rodriguez or Blind would have been a better addition for sure.
