Of COURSE they wouldn't be top contenders in the PL. What a ridiculous thing for anyone to say. I can't be bothered to wade through the huge bulk of nonsense that I'm sure everyone's favorite La Liga fan boy has spewed, but here's a few points from the last few posts:

That's not true at all, because what that money translates to is DIVERSITY. There are so many players, from so many different countries, with a mix of so many styles, that you simply cannot ignore the competitiveness this brings. You want to talk about something being based on money?

Go take a look at Real and Barca's billions, and the 500m debt that Atletico STILL haven't started to pay off because the corrupt Spanish system doesn't force them to. Their success is propped up by hideous TV rights inequities, and UEFA/La Liga being insanely biased towards giving them a helping hand.

Real and Barcelona would be nothing, NOTHING without money. Remember in 2009, when mighty Madrid got spanked by Liverpool? How much money did they spend to fix this? How much money was spent to assemble to squad they have? How much money did Barcelona spend, since Rijkaard?

Here's a hint: only City have spent more.

Real and Barcelona would be nothing without money, and La Liga would be NOTHING without Real and Barca.

THAT's the difference, and the truth. Without them? La Liga would be like Portugal's league: occasionally doing well in the CL but otherwise only able to compete for the EL instead.

Oh, and by the way? If Valencia, or Villareal or Sevilla were to move to the PL and become richer? Then guess what: they would no longer be the clubs they used to be. Because they would be PL clubs. As they are RIGHT NOW there is no way that they could compete for the top honours in the PL.

He's doesn't seem to be trolling though^. I think it's his genuine thoughts on the matter due to limited knowledge about football. Then again, he knows a lot about Barcelona so maybe he's just heavily biased and very ignorant.

Anyways this is all fun and the reason to why I started a new thread was to highlight tikis somewhat controversial (read laughable) perception of football.

I mean, look. He's even trying to invoke Voltaire, unaware of the fact that Voltaire never said that, and that the quote in question is referring to governments, not private social groups like FootyRoom.

Yes, it's true that much of what he says can be attributed to ignorance, and if that was all the problem was, then it would be manageable. Instead, he takes that ignorance and acts in a childish, antagonistic manner designed to ruin every conversation in which he feels he doesn't have the upper hand (which is most of them), and annoy/hassle people who disagree with him.

That's a troll, in my book. I don't know what other word to use.

Believe me, I have no issue with threads that highlight this, ultimately, just pointing out the root issue. When you endure years of the same thing, it's no longer just 'fun'.
