Manchester City Fined £50million and PSG fined £60million after breaking UEFA's FFP rules. UEFA have stopped short of barring City from taking part in the Champions League with the organisation's president Michel Platini vowing not to impose the harshest sanction. City have also been hit with a hefty fine after failing to comply with UEFA's rules. The main punishment sees City's squad restricted to 21 for Europe's elite competition and the Citizens would have to ensure they have eight locally-trained players in that A squad.City according to reports are contesting the nature of their punishment and they have until the end of the week to reach an agreement with UEFA. City and PSG are two of nine clubs being investigated by UEFA's club financial control board (CFCB) for FFP (Financial Fair Play) breaches.

I wonder if this will have any effect in summer transfer windows for both clubs.

Does this apply to Spain as well? Because Real Madrid and Barcelona would be screwed if this applied to us too.

I'm so happy we complied with FFP now.

UEFA logic : Is your club in debt ? Then we will punish them with heavy fine by putting them in deeper debt ...

@Dynastian Real madrid and Barca are financialy strong as they also earn a lot of money by trophies and from UCL so they will not be screwed and its also apply in spain as you see Malaga was charged last year

Teams should be fined for thi type of stuff... not signing under aged players from other countries!

@ramaboy teams should be fined for whatever illegal business they take part in.

This punishment should benefit all the other big teams in Europe, because City and PSG who are monsters on the transfer market will have a lot less power this summer. Or whenever this thing comes into effect.

The reason PSG and City break the rules even though they're aware of the rules is because they can. £50 million is nothing to them. Punishment should be disqualification from European competitions and/or reduction of points in the league.

There should be transfer ban not fines or bans from European league .

@KingHenry I understand that, and Barcelona did break the rules, but what I am saying is that why should their be rules saying that a teenager join a club if they are under age? I'm pretty sure any teenager would want to join one of the biggest academies in the world!

Chelsea made their transfers carefully. We didn't bring in any expensive players in and we sold Mata fro 41m approx

We bought Salah 11m approx, Matic 21 approx, Zouma 11 approx, Schwarzer Free, VGinkel 9 approx

We sold De Bruyne for 18 approx

@ramaboy from what I understood about this story and I'm not 100% sure, the rules are part of the law in spain and do not come from UEFA or FIFA or whatever. So it'd be very difficult to change them only for football.

@gustavo but the punishment is more than just a fine. They'll be limited to 21 players on their CL list, compared to 25 for other teams. Which is a huge deal. Their total wages musn't grow, they have to sell before they can buy, AND they can only spend 60m, and on only one player. This is from l'Equipe about PSG and the punishment for City is said to be the same. It's more than just a fine. I'll go reread the article to verify i don't talk out of my ass
