I HAVE (mostly) NO BIAS. The list is more or less accurate although I would switch Belgium and Ecuador and move England two more places up. Even in Brazil's current form is not good, it's still THEIR world cup, they'll be one of the teams to watch out for. COLOMBIA and BELGIUM will probably be the dark horses in the world cup in my opinion.

Yeah, Russia, Ecuador, Uzbekistan, Bosnia and Colombia are all teams you tent not to think too much about but all have  great form and they will be dangerous in the WC

Pretty much, Juve. Although I'd give the Netherlands a shout instead of Italy, for certain.

@devilz: England have rarely been overrated.

Colombia might pull a Uruguay, too, mind you.

@MRarsenal500  nah i dont think so. In the SA qualifier there are great teams

I think Ecuador will surprise us in the WC but they are not top 8 to win.

Colombia is also a great team that u can't underestimate...

"@devilz: England have rarely been overrated."

oh please.. English people have thought they are favorites to win the WC since 1966.

IMO 14th favorites is not under or overrating englands chances

well, i wouldn't quite say that knibis...in my time ive never expected England to win a euro's, let alone a WC. And I remember around this time last year, England were ranked no. 3rd in the world or something similar like that? Thats over rated if you ask me. (@lodatz)

@devilz: they were, yeah, and it was very rare for England to be seeded that highly.

Consider, say, the 2002 World Cup. England were seeded something like 12th, and yet were able to beat one of the favorites (Argentina), and we also gave Brazil (the eventual winners) their toughest game in the tournament. In Brazil, in fact, for that match the papers had been painting their team as the underdogs (Denilson and Ronaldinho also both have spoken about how in the locker room, they thought of England as the favorites too).

Needed that wonder free kick by Ronaldinho to win against England, in fact.

And yet we were something like 12th in the world rankings.

Same with 2006, where we were pretty comfortable, and got screwed by Rooney's unwarranted red card. At the time, we were considered something like 10th in the rankings.

In 1990, when we reached the semis, we were considered something like 12th in the rankings.

England are always UNDER-rated.

This last tournament in 2010 was the first one where England had been ranked more appropriately to the talent on paper. England also managed to utterly fail to live up to that billing, and were poor. It was, however the first time in something like 1970, when anyone had finally ranked England nearer to where they should have been all these years.

tl;dr: the rankings are a terrible indicator of a country's tournament hopes.
