You have to be more clear. Do you mean in strength? Or in competitiveness and excitement?

I suggest you become active in the forum. It has a great community. :)

Also, we lack Serie A fans here, so it would be really nice to have you here.

@Eden17Hazard17 I am just going to remind you and everyone else that there can still be a lot of excitement even if the leader is miles ahead. The Bundesliga for example is still very exciting despite having Bayern pretty far ahead.

@EduardoZ I knew you were a Serie A fan because of your profile picture and because it says beside your username that you support AS Roma. So I'm not psychic. ;)

@LVG Great list, I think my list would be mostly the same but I'd switch Bundesliga with La Liga cause Bayern are way too strong and take down a bit of the excitement for me. I also agree with you about the fact it would be nice to have more Serie A fan aboard.

MLS: I live in Canada and this league is not slowing down. It is getting bigger and bigger and will soon be very strong.

Indian: It is very new and like all new leagues it is having a slow start. In the future, I think because of the population size here, more and more people will start paying attention to the sport and it will start to grow rapidly.

China: Like India, I think because of the size of the country they will have a lot more people start following the sport. Also, they have recently signed players like Drogba (gone now), Ba and Ramires, so they really are starting to grow.

@Ed

I follow the MLS very closely, and we're getting there. The allure of Europe still is hindering the league quite a bit (ex: Miziga to Chelsea, he's one of the better young CB's here). The other problem is the salary cap, which makes every team not go over a certain cap number, save for three DPs (designated players) who can be paid anything. It is there to ensure parity, and usually works. Aside from the LA Galaxy, who spent a shitton on their DPs, there is no real skill gap in the league between teams.

If the USA does well in Russia 2018, the MLS will really take off.

However, the Indian and Chinese leagues are going nowhere, for several reasons. I am well aware of the failure of the NASL (what America had before MLS) and what they did was sign high profile players (think Pele, Best) but without developing grassroots systems where players could come up and succeed through academies or any support in general. From what I know, the model that the NASL failed with is a pretty close replica of what is going on in China right now, and to a lesser degree in India.

But seriously, in terms of entertainment value:

BPL
Championship (did anyone watch the end of last season, hot damn)
MLS

Maybe the Serie A will join that this season, but there's still too big of a skill gap between top and bottom. The BPL is just nuts, and the Championship and MLS have playoffs at the end of their respective seasons, which is super exciting.

Well written Sun. I fully agree. It's interesting to see how much money Chinese teams splash out however. I mean Ramires for £20m+ is a huge sum of money.. Also, there are so many former stars that have passed their peak of their careers that choose to end their career in the Chinese league. Together with the MLS it's a destination for dying stars to say.. But MLS is getting more interesting for every day and with a working grassroot system and with such a huge market with huge financial backup the future for the MLS looks prosperous in the US.

Anyways, my list would be..

  1. EPL
  2. Serie A
  3. Bundesliga
  4. Championship
  5. Eredivisie
  6. La Liga
  7. Allsvenskan

In terms of excitement as to who will be the penultimate winner, I can only think of EPL and Serie A fitting that category. The reason I included Serie A is because Napoli is currently leading it. Otherwise, I'd generally just stick to the EPL.
