The steward grabbed Bonucci as he looked to return to his team-mates and gestured that he needed to return to the stands.
The 34-year-old appeared to be baffled by the mix-up, causing fans to take to social media to highlight the hilarious moment.
One fan Tweeted saying: 'Classic Wembley stewarding', while another added 'I'm just glad for the Stewards sake it wasn't Giorgio Chiellini.'
Many supporters have since shared the hilarious clip - calling it 'one of the most awkward moments of Euro 2020.
