Hopefully Eto'o!
^I'd prefer Rooney but if that doesn't workout then Eto'o is a fantastic plan B.
Rooney is a great player without a doubt, but I don't want Chelsea to spend another 40 million to get him. Eto'o is the much cheaper solution.
Both aren't cheap really but Rooney is in his prime while Eto'o is declining. Plus, while Rooney will cost 30-40m, Eto'o is asking for 6 million each season. I would not like have a 32 year old asking for 6 million a year.
Rooney could be the difference from:
CL Semis/Quarter to CL winners
EPL Trophy contenders to EPL champions
FA Cup finalists to FA Cup winners
Rooney proved he still has got what it takes yesterday by being United's biggest threat upfront and I would pay 30-40m for such a world class player.
HESKEY!!! Clearly it'll be Eto'o though. I heard he was in London
Mourinho needs to learn that the Chosen One does not care about what he says or any timeline he sets. Rooney is not for sale. If I was Ba, Torres or Lukaku I would be pissed off right now, because Mourinho clearly did not trust them to start yesterday.
Mourinho is a downright hypocrite. He called Wenger a "voyeur" for speaking about Chelsea, but he himself cannot stop talking about United. I think it is clear that he is bitter that SAF did not choose him as his successor.
@Lodatz i agree with you, the strikers need to learn from him...
@TheGame: Mourinho wants to get it over with as much as every Chelsea/ManUtd fan. That's why he told Rooney "48 hours or that's it". He's not Wenger. Secondly, he was heading to Chelsea WAY before SAF announced his retirement. In fact, you'd be lucky if you had Mourinho as SAF's successor.
^^^^ hahaha! I wouldn't classify having an arrogant loudmouth as the successor to the greatest of them all as "being lucky". Quite the contrary! and lets be honest here, he was Chelsea's SECOND choice!! It's only coz Chelsea has hired and fired all other available coaches, and no one else wanted Mou that they ended up together. Marriage of convenience, or settling is what they call it. Frankly, I was surprised that Roo wanted to play for the guy after seeing him piss off every Madrid player worth the shirt. Gladly though he has come to his senses and our no.10 will stay exactly where he is. I'll see myself out now!
@ vendetta
what luck are you talking about, do you consider yourself lucky if a good manager manages your team for 3 years and then leave?
even if he achieve greatness and wins trophies, his bad reputation and his cocky statements that damage every club he manages is a thing we are not looking to deal with.
for me, moyes was the perfect choice, his ambition and work ethic that are similar to SAF when he came to manchester united can be really felt coursing through his veins.
In fairness, all of you are unlucky, because you didn't get the Fuzzy Wonder!
(this video cracks me up. Cheesy but awesome)
@Vendetta, keep telling yourself that. Almost NO ONE at United wanted Mourinho as our manager as he'd probably ruin the reputation of our great club with his antics. SAF retired on 5-8-13 and Moyes was appointed on 5-9-13. Mourinho was announced manager of Chelsea on 6-3-13. There were rumors that Mourinho was headed out of Madrid at a time when SAF hadn't announced his retirement yet. But trust that Mourinho would've taken the job had he been offered by SAF. It is clear as daylight that he has an obsession with United.
I like to think of mourinho as the Suarez of managers. He shows good results (he IS a good manager) stains the club's image with arrogant behaviour, and then leaves to some other club. You'd want him only when all the other good managers that are not douchebags are taken.
^Haha great comparison KingHenry!
@TheGame: "Almost NO ONE at United wanted Mourinho as our manager as he'd probably ruin the reputation of our great club with his antics."
Can someone please explain the irony to him? SAF also had a mouthpiece on him. I hate the fact ManUtd fans think Mourinho is not fit for ManUtd because of his antics. SAF did every antic Mourinho did before Mourinho even became famous.
"SAF retired on 5-8-13 and Moyes was appointed on 5-9-13. Mourinho was announced manager of Chelsea on 6-3-13. Oh really?
^There's source number one.
"After that, the conversation turned to the Premier League and he casually dropped into the conversation that one of his children would be starting in school in London. There was a shrug of the shoulders and a grin. It was obvious he was going back to Chelsea."
^There's your source number two from Jamie Carragher.
You'd think the common logic here is to trust a fan of the club you don't support, because clearly he knows more than you know about the manager. If that's not enough sources for you I've got another two I could show you. So nice try, but Mourinho's been a blue all along.
@KingHenry: That's a bit unfair. I'd compare him to Ibrahimovic. Considered one of the best in his job, but arrogant. Some people love him, some people hate him. They both hate Pep Guardiola and Barcelona.
Honestly, where do you ManUtd fans get this bullsh*t? Mourinho was rejected by SAF? Where the hell is your evidence to back up such a strong statement? You guys have these weird ass theories making yourself believe Mourinho is the devil and SAF is the hero. I'm not taking anything away from a great manager like SAF, but how can you guys not notice his antics but you can easily notice Mournho's antics. And then some other ManUtd fans here bring up Chelsea's reputation and our trigger finger owner. Was there a reason to bring up our owner, or our reputation? Or is it a mandatory thing for you guys every time there is a thread involving Jose and ManUtd?
@Vendetta, maybe you don't understand the difference. SAF would not poke another coach in the eye. SAF would not turn his own players against each other. One of the greatest qualities of a manager is knowing when you deservedly lost. SAF admitted that Barcelona were the best team in the world after they defeated us in the 2011 CL final. I would never see that type of humble attitude from Mourinho v. Barca. Instead, when Mourinho lost to Barca in CL he tried to justify his team's bad results with conspiracy theories that made a joke out of his club. SAF is disliked by many fans from other teams, I agree. But he is also respected for his dedication to one club for 26 years. Everything SAF did at United was for the betterment of Manchester United. I cannot say that about Mourinho at Madrid. So please keep the comparison to yourself because there is no comparison. Your sources are from January and March, respectively. So they do not prove anything as I have already told you SAF had not announced his retirement at that time. Did you even read my comment? To say that you know what goes on in Mourinho's head just because you are a fan of Chelsea is ludicrous. It is easy for Mourinho to say that he never wanted the United job if he was never offered it. Given the respectful way he conducted himself during Madrid's game against United, you can clearly tell he was providing lip service for the future. Can I prove for sure that Mourinho wanted the United job? Of course not (I can't read minds. Apparently you can), but given the way he constantly talks about Moyes and Rooney in the press, it is hard to believe he is not sour about not getting the job. YOU CAN KEEP HIM.
I expect a lot of drama in these 48 hours. It's not going to end well :/
