the "OTHER" transfers...

A lot of threads have been made about highporfile transfer sagas and higher profile clubs so I though it might be nice to list some of the less mentioned signings/clubs here

DI Natalie- renewed his contract with Udinese until June 30th 2015 with an option for a further season. Great news as the loyal man wants to retire there despite STILL being courted by other clubs. Di Natale scored 23 league goals for Udinese last season - a tally he has reached in each of the last four campaigns.

WIlfried Bony - Swansea have signed the 24 yo striker from Vitesse Arnhem for a rumoured £12m. The imposing CF was the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season having scored 31 goals in just 30 games for Vitesse. This could prove to be an inspired buy.

Aroune Kone - Everton have triggered the £5m release clause for the Wigan striker.

Antolin Alacaraz - The defender signed a 2 year deal with Everton on a free

Jozy Altidore - Sunderland have signed the 23 yo American CF from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Since moving from Villarreal to AZ in August 2011 he has proved an instant hit, scoring 38 goals in 67 appearances. The strong striker will be Paolo Di Canio's 6th signing of the summer and probably most expensive. the fee is undisclosed.

Feel free to add others (they should be complete or just about already).

^^ Goodness knows. It does seem like overkill, doesn't it?

Then again, if we sold off Huddlestone, Parker and Livermore, it would make sense. I mean, having Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue as your CDM/CM roster is fairly desirable.

In fact, maybe keep Parker, just in case we need an emergency shift. :p

This was probably paid for by the Dempsey sale. How about a young starlet up front, Levy? Salah, maybe?

Helder Postiga's transfer to Valencia confirmed! Good move for a maligned striker.

not too sure about him @Golden but i hope he will have the same supersub effect as Veldez if we sign someone else

@knbis,

Well, he netted 14 times last season for a team ending at the bottom of the table and scoring only 37 goals overall. He's gonna find the net for Valencia, and I'm sure that's what they need after Soldado's transfer.

If Valencia buy another striker however, a young and talented one, I agree with you, Postiga will probably be more of a super-sub than a main player in that position. Though as it stands now, I think he'll be the first choice. I'm glad he went to such a respected and good club like Valencia. :)

I wish he'd managed more than 1 goal in 24 appearances for Spurs. :p

This in today: Bernard signs for Shaktar Donetsk:

Ah well. Waste of great talent, but they have the money, after that ridiculous Fernandinho fee.

@Lodatz

Waste? I don't think so. Shakhtar can help Bernard develop a bit as a player new to Europe until he matures more. After 2-3 years at the Donbass Arena, he can be experienced enough to play for the big clubs.

But if AVB made a move for him sooner, it would've been a terrific move from Tottenham. :P

Gervinho's officially off to Roma.

@Dynasty: meh. That or he'll become another Willian, playing against substandard competition and eventually snatched up by a Russian club.

He'd have been better off going to Porto, Spurs, Arsenal, Atletico, Valencia, Schalke or Benfica, if you ask me.

Shaktar has a richer owner than Chelsea, just sayin'

@Lodatz

Yeah, Bernard WANTED to go to Porto, because Scolari respects Brazilians who play in the Liga Portuguesa a lot, but Porto (I believe) bid 20 M, not the 24-25 M that Shakhtar bid. I guess Atletico Miniero wanted the highest bidder. :P

Still, Porto and Benfica are two of the most amazing teams in the world when it comes to developing talent.

^ Brilliant sentence in the end there. ;) But seriously, it was disappointing to see Bernard going to Shakthar. We had him for a while, but that's how the club operates; we rather buy less desirable and more cheap talent, and Bernard has been hailed as a big talent for quite some time now. I'm not surprised we didn't catch him.

I also think it would've been too early to send him to the EPL at a club like Spurs or Arsenal.

^ Don't worry, you just got Quintero. He's one of the biggest talents at the moment :)

@Juan,

That's right, and a bunch of other talented players, but it would've been exciting with Bernard in the club, too. I'm happy we decided to let him go in the end though, as the price got pretty high. And you're probably right, we shouldn't overload with new talent; eventually we could end up with many of them getting slower development.

@Golden: Exactly. But I'm not even sure whether Bernard would be a regular starter for Porto if he had joined them instead of Shakhtar, because you already have Atsu and Varela in his position.

Oh, I thought Bernard was a CAM, not a LW? Hm, in that case it's even better we didn't get him in the end, because we've got a lot of CAMs nowadays.

No no, he surely can play as a CAM, but Atletico uses a 4231 formation and Ronaldinho usually starts as a CAM, so Bernard has to play on the left wing :)
