@lodatz with the exception of the few times when both Ade & Defoe were unavaiable, i dont think id say he played as a cf. whenever i saw him play he started on the lw BUT had the freedom to roam around the front (which is very much what Ronaldo does). in that sense he plays a lot like a modern day inside forward and thats whybi said Ronaldo plays the same position as him.

Also, consistency = more than 1 season. Again, I agree that AVB allowed him to blossom by giving him more freedom than 'Arry but by doing that he essentially gave him a new job. what I am suggesting is that if he wants to be cream of the crop he has to show consistency in THAT specific role which to curb any doubts about his reproducibility elsewhere. This is what "elite" clubs usually wait to see.

@Foota: Again, if you were seeing him on the left wing, it was in the early part of the season. If anything, he's spent his golden patch on the right.

Trust me, I kinda watched every game.

As for consistency, yes, I agree with you too. However, the point I was firing back with was this: he's shown, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that his ability and skill-set match his new position. It is only this past half season that we've really seen him play in it, and before that?

Well, he's consistently been one of the best wingers in the league for about 3 seasons now. Ever since that breakout night against Inter, he's been terrorizing the flanks nearly week-in, week-out. That IS consistency. He's consistently awesome wherever he's playing.

So yes, while I can agree that one season doesn't equal consistency, this is not his first season of being consistently awesome. It's his third. It's just the first one he's been doing it as a pseudo-striker.

See what I mean?
