Rooney Saga Continues.

The Premier League champions have rejected an opening bid from the Blues for the striker** and insist he is not for sale, with the two clubs at odds over whether players were involved in the bid.**

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is the club's only transfer target this summer.

Jose Mourinho**:**

"I think that this situation is clear - nothing is a secret anymore," he told reporters.

"The official bid is just about a certain amount of money and doesn't involve players.

"We want the player. We made the bid and now we have nothing more to say.

"Now its up to Manchester United."

The Chelsea boss was then asked if the club had made other bids, to which Mourinho replied: "No, and we won't."He was then asked whether it is now "Rooney or bust", replying: "yes."

Rooney's future at Old Trafford has been up in the air since Sir Alex Ferguson revealed he had asked to leave the club, while Mourinho had previously implored the wantaway striker to "do what makes him happy".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that the Gunners can afford Wayne Rooney's wages.

After the Red Devils signed Robin van Persie from the Gunners last summer, Wenger has stated that he has the cash to take Rooney in the other direction should be leave Old Trafford this summer.

A**rsene Wenger:**

"It happened to us last year and it can happen to them," he told reporter's following Wednesday's 7-1 win over Vietnam.

"Rooney is under contract and has two years to go so its United who make the decision. But we would not have a problem with the wages of Rooney."

You wanted big names Wayne...and now you want out when those big names have been recruited. Ah, so you only wanted players who didn't play in your position? Rooney has chosen flight over fight. What does he expect? At his best, he is world class. But over the past season, He hasn't been at his best...Therefore he's gotten dropped for players who are actually in form, and now he wants out and is sulking like a baby... If I was Rooney, id train hard, get in shape and focus on getting back in form, and get my position back! But if he wants to go, then piss off already!

@devilz, you shouldn't be too hard on Wayne man. Man United wouldn't have made this thus far without his contribution. He even enduring a whole season, playing positions other than his main, and he even performed better than anyone in the midfield, except for Carrick. I'd say thank him for all the things he's done for us, and wish him the best of his remaining football career.

Now back to the topic, PLZ GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT CHELSEA. That is all.

Rooney was not comfortable playing in the deep lying role he was deployed in by Sir Alex at Manchester United last season. He always wanted to play as a centre-forward. and what made it worse for him is what Moyes said in the press conference that he is now second choice upfront. which is not healthy for him or England. As what Mourinho said "He should do what makes him happy" because he won't perform well otherwise.

Rooney and Podolski would be interesting... If Mourinho wants Rooney, what will happen to Torres?

@Wolfie Torres is going nowhere. You should ask what will happen to Ba. Yet Mourinho said that no one will be leaving. But secretly hinted before that he doesn't want Ba and Mikel in his squad because they don't fit his playing style. and both of them has been linked with a move to several clubs.

*sigh*... I guess he is an upgrade (that comes with a risk) over our strikers, but my gut doesn't want to see him ever wearing a Chelsea shirt.

@V To be honest, I don't mind him playing for us. He is a world class player and Mourinho would bring the best of him and would fit Mourinho's playing style. It would be a fresh start for him under Mourinho and also will lose some weight :)

It's ironic how he once said "Once a Blue always a Blue" at Everton. "1:16" But hey, many players do it nowadays. It's not just Rooney.

@Alex: One word that caught my attention in your sentence was "fit". Rooney as many know isn't always the fittest player. Rooney when in-form is no doubt deadly on the ball, and no doubt one of the deadliest in the Premier League. But Rooney hasn't been in-form as much as he used to. He also isn't really the same Rooney as of late, but I can understand that because he was pushed down as a CAM.

Another thing, that video from KickTV you posted makes me hate him even more. Unlike the other players who kissed the badge in the video, Rooney's was by far the most douche-like celebration. It's one thing to kiss a badge of one club and then move to another club and do the same. It's another thing when you kiss your childhood club's badge and then kiss the ManUtd badge in front of your childhood club fans. A d*ck thing to do.

@V I know, But I also said it would be a fresh start for him under Mourinho's training system. he will get his form and fitness back really quick. Call it a motivational move for him. Anyways, as an England supporter I wish him all the best and he should stay playing as a CF.

He really needs to buck up, be a man, and start training! Ibrahimovich is a bit like him... wants to do everything and have the best position etc. But that man deserves what he gets! Rooney however...pffff

Rooney is one of the most versatile and skillful players in England. Having gotten that out of the way, I HOPE HE STOPS BEING LINKED TO ARSENAL. I don't like him, I don't like anything about him. If Fergie (mister disciplinarian himself) couldn't do enough to keep him fit & motivated than there is little hope for anyone else. I say let Chelsea have him.

Having said all that, I don't think there is a chance in hell Arsenal would ever go for him (it's all PR paper talk IMO). Wages & Fee far outweigh the value. So, I don't think I have too much to worry about.

@Alex: I never really believed in that motivational thing when a player joins a new team. I actually think Rooney would be even more nervous after all those years with Manchester United and adapting to Ferguson, and not Mourinho.

@V It's motivational when the player is pissed off at his situation and not getting what he deserves or want. Players like that tend to perform as double as good they are to prove their worth to everyone and why they acted this way. so that motivation is just out of anger and frustration. That's what I meant. :)

and also this.. No wonder Rooney is so angry after what Moyes said.

Moyes: "Overall, my thought on Wayne is that if, for any reason, we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we are going to need him and I want as many options as possible."

^^ That's probably the biggest blow to his ego that he's ever received. He's been basically labeled as a "second-choice". Rooney is too good to be second-choice, but at the same time, as Footaholic said, if Ferguson himself couldn't discipline Wayne Rooney, I don't see how anyone else can fix his attitude issues.

@Dynstian: All what Rooney ever wanted was to be a first-choice player and also to play as a center-forward. This is what made him act this way. Besides his ego won't let him accept the fact that RVP is taking his place at the club, knowing that he's been the golden boy & hero for Manchester United.
