This is truly getting boring and I think there are no new arguments. Ronaldo and Messi performed consistently since 2012 or 2013. So I think the answer is the same to the question as it was 3-4 years ago.

I personally think Messi is a better player. I could give all the reasons why I think so but they have been written in several places, multiple times. Only thing I could do is repeat.

Lol, everybody asking for the thread to be closed despite nobody even acting butthurt or like troll. Leave it a go, maybe this time around, we can just share our opinion without insulting each other. ;) Me, my preference is for Messi because of his personality, the team he play for and how he play for his team. However, Ronaldo is just as good as a player however in my opinion and he can be a very good leader if he want to. At the end of the day, both are superb player I would rather have on my side that against me. :D

If Messi was a bit higher . I think if he was 6 foot , he wouldn't come close to Ronaldo . Messi heavily relies on his size , lower center of gravity thus better dribbling . Messi is exceptional player but not any where near Ronaldo .

Ronaldo has proven himself everywhere ! when i say everywhere I mean everywhere and in everyway ! Winger who scores like a striker and defends like a wing back ! Not to mention Ronnie is a fantastic human being that doesn't steal taxes , donates and on media he is being himself . He may seem arrogant to others but to me he is worthy of respect !

Only reason why Messi has 4 balon dors is because FIFA and c8ck sucker Blatter helped him ! Also I don't think Messi would have succeeded outside of Barcelona and La Liga ! That is why he sits put where he is at ! Look at Suareaz in La Liga he became even better scoring 40 goals and that is in the team with Messi and Neymar . Build a club around Suarez and He will be scoring more just like Messi used to do when he was the only striker and when Xavi and Iniesta Busquetes would openly say that our job is to help messi score more goals even when it is open tap in they would pass it to Messi .

Ronaldo is individually the better player. It's simple: Had Ronaldo been shaped and formed as the central player in the Barca team of the past 10 years, Ronaldo would already be considered the greatest player in history - by far. Dont agree with Marcus on the trolling comment that "Messi sucks" though, obviously he doesn't.

I think these discussions are lame, and most likely the thread starter is a young boy who hasn't had enough experience to see these discussions. For me it's simple though, and for most people too. Ronaldo is better.

@Lilywhite I think Messi is a more useful player than Ronaldo in most and he can do some impressive stuff that Ronaldo cannot. I have a bit more respect for Ronaldo however in the sense that contrary to Messi, he had to work very hard to be as good as he is. A lot people say that they feel Messi was a natural. Not saying he is not a hard worker, just saying I got more respect for Ronaldo on that point. Still, Ronaldo is also a better leader in my opinion and a better goalscorer while Messi is the best playmaker. They are not the same kind of player so its kind of hard to compare them when you think about it. :P

Your argument that Messi is better playmaker yet couldn't make Argentina win WC . DI Maria ran the show for Argentina in that tournament not Messi ! Take Ronaldo out of Portugal and they play like Liechtenstein !

Facts speak for themselves . It is amazing how Argentina starts to actually play better football without Messi ! Argentina is not Barcelona , Messi only disrupts the chemsitry of the team and tactics of the team with his brainless runs . Marodona made way less runs but made 10 times more impact . That brings another point .

Ronaldo on oppostie always had to conquer love and support ! Everyone always against him but he kept going proving them wrong . Btw Messi is in his prime years but playing like he is soon to retire ! Those hormones are wearing out or is he missing all the support ? I am still surprised Neymar and Suarez are not sacrificed like were Sanchez , Ibrahimovic , Villa , Eto etc.

Am I the only one who thinks that they are far too different to be properly compared to one another? I mean the differences couldn't be more obvious. One relies heavily on a low center of gravity to dribble around players and the other used to rely on trickery to get the best of defenders. One plays in a team that relies on short, high success-rate passes and the other relies on long, risky passes. One gets most of his assists from through balls in short distances, the other gets most of his assist from crosses. One plays as an attacking-midfielder/winger hybrid and the other plays as a winger/target man hybrid. One has excellent movement and relies on it to fool defenders and make plays without touching the ball, and the other works his magic when the ball comes to his feet.

Seriously, there's only a handful of similarities between them. They're so different it's almost shocking. Their success was a combination of their circumstances, luck, talent, immense self-confidence, and, of course, hard work. Everyone has a preference, and it is widely known that Ronaldo is portrayed very poorly by the media and attacked at any given chance, but Messi is portrayed as the "good boy" and hardly gets extended publicity when he evades multi-millions in taxes. This affects people's choices more than you might think, leading most people to prefer the genius of Messi than the hard work of Ronaldo. That's not a problem. The problem I see is why praise one and hate the other! No need. I've been a madridista for many years and I plan on buying a Messi jersey. Why? Because he is one of my favorite players! There's no need to love one and hate the other - just admire and acknowledge both! Key word: acknowledge. They're both pretty much equally talented (at least in their primes). Their difference in success at that point in time was largely due to circumstanes and luck.
