Why doesn't RvP ever perform against big teams in the time of need?

For example, Real Madrid in CL, Chelsea in FA Cup and Carling Cup, Manchester City at OT

I mean is it because it is still his first season with United, so he needs time to get better? Or is there something I am missing?

Maybe opposing teams are now better prepared for him?

His main strength is his first touch which is excellent and the way he times his runs. But both in the Madrid and the City games, the defenders who were covering him were onto his movement quickly. Not sure what happened in the other league games as I didn't watch them.

He's that type of player to win you the points playing against small teams that prove to be so crucial at the end of the season. In a big game hes quiet. Also, his run of goalless streak is pretty surprising.

He is good enough. Just look how Arsenal's fans are still angry .

RVP has one good season after 8 years and all of a sudden he's "world class..."  I'd still welcome him to Inter in a heartbeat. :P

One good season?

He's been Arsenal's top scorer for 4 different seasons, won their Player of the Year award 2 times (came runner up 1 season too), and is their 8th highest goalscorer of all time.

Come now. Whatever one thinks of the guy, to pretend he only had one good season is rewriting history.

He's amazing for 3 months of the season. lol... I joke.. your right Lodatz, perhaps if he was in a more competitive team  for the last 8 years and didn't get injured so often maybe he would have gone down as one of the greats. The flashes of genius is there for all to see.. That said, he still has time to carve his name into history but does he want it bad enough?? Only time will tell. :) JOGO BONITO!!

He was the same way at Arsenal and in that hideous show at the Euros. The only big game I remember him really being spectacular in was the AC Milan game when we almost came back in 2012. I think he's a very nervous player, and he's on a bad streak. I'm thrilled for the traitor.

I wish we could edit posts. What I should've added above is that he is in fact an excellent player, but he's streaky and erratic, especially when there's a big game on. Definitely.
