RB Leipzig

So, am I the only one impressed by the recently promoted side RB Leipzig? I've already seen a few people call them the Leicester of Bundesliga and what with them being on the same number of point as Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, you can understand that people are calling them that. However, in Germany, RB Leipzig couldn't be considered farther away than Leicester. The club is widely know in germany as a plastic club as it was founded recently in 2009 and have little to no history to speak of. The maker of the club as you might have already guess is Red Bull but since in Germany, team cannot be represented by a product, RB Leipzig actually stand for RasenBallsport Leipzig. It is also why their logo is a tiny bit different to that of other Red Bull team around the world. So all in all, not really a Leicester and more of a Manchester City, wouldn't you say? Well, once again, not completely right because Leipzig invest in young talent instead of star, that is why the club barely got a any star player that are well known. Not that it mean their player aren't any good as most of them already played for their national team in the youth team or are still playing for it. So yeah, its an impressive team with a lot of ressource and potential to keep those kind of performance for a long time. As a neutral fan, I couldn't be happier to see another team challenge one of the top name of the game. Anyway, if you curious to know more about them, I recomend reading their Wikipedia page as they already got tons of info on them there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RB_Leipzig
And don't forget to share your thought on the matter. ;P

They have been playing great and I was really surprised when I checked the Bundesliga league stats and they were tied with Bayern and remain undefeated. Their manager is pretty good and promising, he took Inglodstat to the bundesliga last season. I always appreciate youth development (I always do that in my fifa careers) so Im hoping they can maintain their level.

@raimondo90 Likewise, really apreciate what they doing even if they managed to do what they did until now with money. Hope they maintain themselve.

Impressive start to the season from them, but the hate on them in Germany is extreme. Maybe it's because of the reasons you mentioned, or maybe it's jealousy that a newcomer is challenging Bayern, but people in Germany have enormous hate on them.
Let's see what happens and if they can be consistent over the course of the season.

I'm torn about the team. Another challenger? Great. Youth talents? Great.

What's not great? No history - no genuine passion - a large corporate company behind it - plastic. Even more clear that football is an industry.

I've been following them since the start of last season. After they bought our young player Atınç Nukan for 6M€ who hasn't even played for us regularly. I was kinda surprised about the transfer but I''ve rated Atınç higher than some regular defenders. Then I did some research and heard about their aim for a place in Champions League with the youngster players. Which they told in 2-3 years it was gonna happen. I was like "LoL are they serious?". It lookes like they were serious :D

Better to play decent football and develop talents, than play bad football and do nothing with talents. Or even be great club and still waste talents (like Madrid or Chelsea - don't wanna make arguments). Just look at Werner, Keita or Forsberg. They are all playing great football there. It is positive thing for Bundesliga to be competitive, this season after all is so exciting (Eintracht, Hoffenheim and Leipzig are playing great).

@Croatian You had to remind me how we waste all this talent from our academies...sad but true :/

Bundesliga MUST become competitive it even benefits Bayern considering their only opponent is BVB.
How many times they bottled a SEMI final vs a Spanish side? 3 years straight? I'd say their biggest enemy is that they face tough teams only in UCL, its easier to prepare yourself and win with injuries vs a Bundesliga team than a UCL team. For so many years such consistency in reaching semis and finals and losing at the end. It is sad because they play great football despite their disgusting transfer policy.

RB Leipzig is promising but why hating on them? They should be happy something good came out of this way they treat football nowadays. Another team that is a tough nut to crack inside the german league. Yes money got involved so what?

@liomessi10 It was the goal of Red Bull when they created the team, like that, people still think of them when they see the team name but it respect Bundesliga law about compagny who can't be represented in the team name or logo.

@JozeMourinho I completely agree with you, however, it will be a long time before club that suddenly rise thanks to money manage to be accepted... :( I'm sure you know about it firsthand. :(

@KTB Gotta agree with most of the thing you said. They have no history, little fan and are backed by lots of money but at least, they're not spending all of that money on huge name and are focusing on developing young talent like you said.

@Saatvik It is for the reason I did said sadly, the club is nicknamed the plastic club in Germany if I'm not mistaken. :(

The statutes of the DFB don't permit the usage of a company's name in the club name, so they decided to go with "RasenBallsport", which literally means "Lawn Ball Sports" in German. But obviously it has the same initials as Red Bull, so people still recognize it.

I don't agree on the fact they only face tough teams in CL, look at Leverkusen they have at least Tottenham level if not better. Wolfsburg played CL quarters and eleminated Man United and almost Madrid, Dortmund well No need to size it I think everyone rates them high. Schalke 04 great talents there, Gladbach, Hoffenheim, Leipzig....
Bayern domination past seasons is the fruit of hard work and quality Football, Bundesliga is not a weak league, How many direct confrontation do we need to understand it ?

Why are people complaining about them having no history? Clubs must start from somewhere. If only clubs with history were allowed to win championships, there'd only be 2-3 clubs in each league winning the title over and over again. Every club has a beginning, let Leipzig make their own history. Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern... all the big clubs started off this way.

@tiki taka, Exactly, it is not a weak league, actually very competitive which you can see by how unpredictable the table is, similar in ways to the Epl last couple seasons, and their is so much young talent coming out of Germany. I'm very excited about Rb Leipzig, having this pressure on Bayern Is going to cause them to tie more games, or even lose potentially, allowing BVB to make up some lost ground!!!

@KTB

Marketing, perhaps, but the president of RB is close friends with Franz Beckenbauer from what I've heard. Beckenbauer was the one who recommended they invest in Leipzig, and that's how it all started.

@Dynastian Doesn't change the fact that team who start being good out of nowhere after receiving large sums of money are never apreciated. Its a shame though as to rival with modern big gun, you either need that kind of stuff or you need to be Leicester City. Nah, but joking aside, the reason why everybody seem mad at the team for doing so well is because it is so young and have no history. It mean it got a lot less fan than team like Chelsea or Manchester City who already had a lot of fan from the region they were in before the team got the financial support. It seem like its because everyone hate them but its more about the fact that they're fan lack visibility. Most of them are still most likely located in Leipzig and they all propably just started supporting the team so its why we don't hear any good thing about the team. Their recent fanbase is propably not the most passionate yet and even their number must be small. so they don't get any visibility from the media. That would be my guess at least.
