Ouch.. That looked really bad.. I wish him a speedy recovery. That's really a bad news for Colombia.

Worldcup is now like 5% interesting. Colombia has no chance of reaching very far ( imo)

Dammit! I was really looking forward to him tearing it up at the World. First time Colombia play in a World cup since 1994. sigh

And this was Monaco vs an amateur team. Too bad to be hurt in those matches. Hope he can play WC. the world waited him to show his talents :/

Really disappointing injury . We can all agree World Cup will be slightly different without Falcao . This is just plain bad news for football fans in general .

In fairness, while it's always a shame when such a talented player gets injured....

...does this really affect the World Cup? I mean, really? Was anyone seriously expecting Colombia to 'tear it up', or anything?

It's a damn shame, and it's a damn fine player it happened to, but, it's hardly changed much, in terms of the tournament.

Not sure if serious, or just wants to start another argument.

Yes, it affects the World cup. The chances of Colombia getting out of their group has now dropped significantly. Falcao was one of the favourites to win the golden boot and golden ball and possibly get his team to the Semi-finals. His injury has greatly affected the course of World cup.

@ Lod - I thought we made an agreement that you will stay out of my threads. I guess the temptation to troll was just too great for you. Your comment does not even warrant a reply. You just came here to derail another one of my threads and start another pointless argument. How about you get it through your thick skull already.

Sad news, Colombia is a top class team with him up front, it will be very complicated for them without him.

Really tired of telling me that the world cup becomes less interesting with big players are ruled out. First of all this is a team sport, not an individual one if thats what you like go watch tennis. Second, why would it matter if it is a talented player it happens to? Being a good player doesnt mean you deserve to stay fit over others. And @Foota no it isnt a dick tackle, its a proper mans tackle.

@Wolife: It helps when you quote the entire statement. That's what honest people do.

Sure, Falcao is a great player, and a player I'd have loved to see in action, but, it's not like it's changed much. Colombia are not screwed, now. They were screwed anyway, in terms of the tournament. They do, admittedly, have a very easy group compared to most, but were always going to struggle against the Ivory Coast and Japan especially.

Whether they are more or less likely to advance out of that group is pretty irrelevant, on the grand scheme of things. They were never someone who was going to worry any of the big teams in the knock-out phase, so, no, it's not 'greatly affected' the World Cup. It's slightly affected it, in a way which is not terribly important.

Also? What Dephased said.

^ Everyone waits him to perform in WC. its a personal challenge for him, for his country and the whole world. Imagine the Inside pain it must be to just wait wait, be in the top form and not playing World Cup.

I think Colombia has other great players, and they have a big fan behind them :)

Of course it's a personal challenge for him. I personally am more bummed about the lack of Zlatan, though.

The key question is: why is it a 'big deal'? Because, well, it's not. It's a shame, but not one which is going to greatly affect the course of the tournament.

It's just a "big deal" because IMO it's really stupid to injure yourself in such matches (French Cup vs amateur team). Poor coaching by Ranieri, why for a match already-won he would risk ligning up such a class player? Monaco have themselves to blame.
