Don't judge the whole of Chelsea's fan base, every team got some sick stupid people called "fans".
To the people saying "this is normal" or "Europeans are that way". What kind of attitude is that? Such mediocrity... What if Martin Luther King Jr. just said "thats just the way it is, nothing we can do." Black people would still be suffering and not enjoying the same rights as white people. I think this is really a wake up call, and shows things have to change. Under no circumstance is it acceptable to degrade someone because of their skin color. We are all humans and these "fans" should be banned for life.
Now, obviously this isn't the majority of Chelsea FC fans, I'm sure most of them are against racism, but still, a small portion of them can make a huge impact and give an inadequate image to ALL Chelsea fans in general.
@RealMadrid17 Totally agree with you. +1
Why this should concern Chelsea as football club ? Criminal charges should be handed by proper authorities . For all we know these are passengers who support Chelsea traveling from point A to point B , it is not on the STADIUM .
There are IS*S football fans , H*tler was a big fan of Schalke , Os*ma B*n Laden was Arsenal fan , should clubs also be responsible for their actions ? Should that damage clubs image ? Why should club and fans be ashamed or feel sorry because of some few racist c*nts actions or for the actions of the few who are only supporters ? Man it is their private lives and no need to mix it up with Chelsea unless it happened at the stadium ! That should not damage football clubs image .
@real
little off topic , Marin Luther King was great man he did a lot and same time nothing much changed , because he was the uncle Tom that America wanted , give little that seems a lot to keep him and rest happy.

@Marcus Chelsea don't have to do anything about it, but as a club, they should try to preserve their image by banning these so called "fans". it doesn't matter if its at the stadium or at the metro, doesn't really make a difference imo. What they did should not go unpunished, and it would be a shame if it did.
And saying he did nothing is deplorable... Yes, there are obviously still racists in the US, but that is a small minority. Blacks have rights because of him. They can enjoy same restaurants, neighborhoods, services, etc. He is one of the most influential men and one I feel great admiration for.
Not gonna go off topic about him, but all I'm saying is that the behavior displayed by those specific fans should not go unpunished.
There is legal system in place if they are found by authorities it should be reported to Chelsea . Who ever is guilty will be banned from Chelsea stadium for life . However, now it is wrong making news and creating this drama around Chelsea as football club who has nothing to do with them other than that they are supporting our club. Even Blatter came out with statement . Amean this is just wrong to mix club with people who do things in their private time .
IN eastern Europe every club has ULTRAS . Those are very, very racist fan groups . Clubs give out occasional punishments when something happens during the match at the stadium but outside of it they don't interfere . Compare to that , Chelsea is doing more than enough to cooperate .
And off topic, he did great things , he is great man , he earned those basic rights for black people and other immigrants but if you look deeper in todays US society , his dreams have not come true yet and far from it . Anyways . Just read more about it and watch what is going on in US .

As to Chelsea FCs reactions:

@Marcus, what the heck are you talking about "people who do things in their private time"? This egregious act was done at a PUBLIC venue by so-called fans who support YOUR club. It is now the responsibility of Chelsea FC to address the issue and AT LEAST punish the individuals involved, or rightfully face a heavy fine by UEFA. Just be glad you don't work on Chelsea's PR department, because doing nothing would result in major financial, social and even cultural repercussions that would damage your club's and English football's reputation as a whole. I am just glad there are more sensible Chelsea fans out there, because what you're suggesting is absolutely shocking and, frankly, shameful given how far football has come on the pervasive issue of racism. The onus is on Chelsea to take action, which for the sake of football I am glad that they have at least addressed.

Great fan, and human being that. Thanks for sharing @KTBFFHSWE. For anyone insinuating that this is no big deal, please open your eyes.
@Marcus Ultra's are financially backed by the clubs themselves, but if they take mart in such inglorious and ignominious they must be banned. Just a few months ago, Atletico's Ultra's, after a match against Deportivo La Coruña, killed one of Deportivo's Ultras. These groups are supposed to bring the best out of the club, but they have turned into violent and disrespectful associations which at times just stain football clubs, and the sport itself.
"Be the change you want to see in the world" With this mediocre attitude, us as a human race are going no where.
@KTBFFSHSWE Thanks for sharing these articles about racism, but I don't appreciate you trying to justify or "defend" these actions by presenting these cases. A wrong action doesn't justify another. Never does, never will. I know that they were Chelsea fans, and I understand you feel that Chelsea Football Club as a whole is being blamed for this, but might as well take it as something we must all learn from, and improve as football fans, and as a society.
All Chelsea fans, look at this from another perspective, with a different approach, and ask yourselves. Would you have the same attitude and outlook on this if it had been done by another Ultra group, from another club? Put yourself in the shoes of others... If you had seen this footage, and it was your father, mother, brother, or any person you love and care about, being abused racially?
Please look at this neutrally, as a footballing community, you must realize it is NOT ok, and YOUR club, as an association must act and apprehend these so called "fans" for what they have done. I apologize, but there is no excuse for this what so ever.
@the game
First of , You have to understand , I am number one person to condemn such actions . I was a victim of constant racism.
What I don't agree with is that Chelsea are responsible for their actions . Those people are responsible for their actions . Not Chelsea .
If few Englishmen make racist remarks in france towards some black french ( non football related at all ) , should government and rest of the english people be punished because they were english and citizen of england ( britain whatever ) ? Proper authority should take action and punish them according by law . They are responsible ones for their actions , so they should pay full price to extent of the law . What English authority can do is to show solidarity and help with investigation to hand them over to French authority and makes sure they get their punishment . Just making an example . Exactly what Chelsea will do . Once identify , club will ban them doing their part and proper authority will charge them doing their part .
Why UEFA needs to get involved ? Or club be punished ? Did Chelsea raise those motherF*ckers during their childhood up to adulthood ? They are grown us men who happen to support Chelsea , it happened in Public, so it is authority's business to take care of it . Chelsea will cooperate and execute their punishment once they are identified.
Again why create such a buzz about few racist scum and constantly bash Chelsea with news headlines. Media is doing their dirty work trying put club in mud because of few scum. Would you like that ? As far as I am concerned United has one of the biggest racist group. Did not hear so much buzz about United when fans were abusing Balotteli ? Did UEFA punish Unnited or FA or Blatter came out with statement ? Nope !!! If tomorrow some serial killer kills someone chanting " Blue flag Flying high" wearing a Chelsea jersey , is Chelsea responsible for him ? What kind of logic you going by please explain if I am missing a point here .
@madrid
Ultras are scum . Have you met Ultras ? I have . Their IQ is 0 . And they are very racist .
@Marcus2011, I think we are all in the same page here. Just a few misunderstandings, we all agree that they should e punished, and we all agree that those idiots do not represent Chelsea's fan base. We also agree that Chelsea needs to ban them. I think we're all on the same page here.
" Have you met Ultras ? I have . Their IQ is 0 . And they are very racist."
This is generally true, yes.
I think it's tied to the working-class roots of the game, which wasn't this big, shiny money-friendly business until about 20-30 years ago. All across Europe (and the rest of the world, too -- you should see some of the South American ultras) there are poor, unhappy (mostly) white people who have the idea that another race is the source of their problems.
And because football grew out of working-class homes and neighbourhoods, the fans (and sometimes even players) carry some of those same attitudes everywhere they go. Ultras are generally taken from this type of people; people whose entire lives revolve around their team, since the rest of it is pretty damn crappy.
Racism is stupid. Racism should be confronted. But, at the same time, it is NOT new, either.
I don't recall threads about it when Spurs fans were attacked by racist French fans when Tottenham played Lyons, or the racist taunting of Danny Rose by Serbian fans, who also threw stones at him. Nor when Luis Aragones called Thierry Henry a 'black shi.t' whiclst coaching Antonio Reyes as Spain's head coach.
Not saying we shouldn't condemn it, but, there's only so much that talking about it on an internet forum will achieve, which isn't much at all.
"What I don't agree with is that Chelsea are responsible for their actions . Those people are responsible for their actions . Not Chelsea ."
If a group of people who clearly identify themselves as supporters of a particular club exhibit racist behaviors in their capacity as fans, it is the responsibility of the club to address the issue, respond and take action to ensure that the perpetrators are punished. Whether that involves using the authorities or asking other supporters to identify these individuals is irrelevant. The club MUST get involved, because it IS their responsibility given football's stance on racism and the basic FACT that fans are representative of clubs. If Chelsea nonchalantly ignore the issue and "let the authorities take care of it" like you are suggesting, they deserve to get punished by UEFA because that would be a mark of ignorance on their part.
Now, probably 99.99% of the people would agree with me on this point. The fact that you don't indicates that once again you are trying desperately to distance your club from controversial issues. This non-realistic vision you have of Chelsea being this perfect and infallible club is nauseating on so many levels, particularly because racism should be an issue that transcends club identity. You even trying to bring club rivalry into this, bashing United, is frankly pathetic and a huge mark of insecurity. And a Marcus comment isn't complete without the victimization complex. The entire world, including the media is against Chelsea? Please. Go watch ESPN and you'll realize how biased they have been against United and LVG this campaign in favor of Chelsea. TL;DR You sound like a broken record.
*"The club MUST get involved, because it IS their responsibility given football's stance on racism and the basic FACT that fans are representative of clubs."
Simply not true.
The club is not responsible for the actions of people who buy and wear the club's shirt, unless those actions are something that the club can control. Inside their own stadium? That's under their control. Anything to do with official supporters groups and/or official media? That's under their control.
Random people travelling across Europe?
Not under their control. What do you honestly expect Chelsea to do, other than offer any information they can to the proper authorities and leave it at that? Issue a statement saying Racism Is Bad?
I'm sure that'll fix everything. :p
Come on, dude. Be realistic.

The only difference between fans acting racist within a stadium and outside of it is the level of difficulty in identifying and dealing with them. You can't preemptively prevent individuals from making racist remarks or chants, you can only hand out punishments afterwards. This "control" you're talking about is a myth unless it is ubiquitous. Football is a global sport. These are random people travelling across Europe who happen to be Chelsea fans. When you factor in that this despicable event has become such a media talking point, along with the fact that it occurred around the time of a big European match involving Chelsea, this very much becomes Chelsea's responsibility to handle. Like I said, they need to ensure that the guilty parties are found and punished. The means are irrelevant. Racism is a systemic problem, and you have to deal with it in a systemic manner. It is a cop out to simply suggest, "Eh. A few bad apples. It has nothing to do with us."

Before Chelsea's Champions League fixture against PSG, a video was recorded of Chelsea fans in the metro of Paris refusing to allow a man of color to board the train while loudly chanting "We're racist and thats the way we like it.
This is just outrageous and disgraceful. Racism has NO place what so ever in football, or no where as a matter of fact. This is shameful and I hope Chelsea as a respectable club that they are do something about this and ban the fans because they are giving Chelsea FC a bad name and football in general. Under no circumstance is it acceptable to act this way towards any human being.
I have no words, honestly no words to describe how deplorable and disgraceful and heinous this is. It truly breaks my heart how some humans can act like this and get away with it.
