Quelle Surprise, Monsieur Wenger

Okay, so it's probably nothing to do with Wenger, but, it has emerged that, for the FA Cup 3rd Round tie between Arsenal and Tottenham, that Arsenal will refuse to make the full seating quota for away fans available for Spurs fans.

By rights we should have roughly 9,000 seats (15%) allocated for our away support, as per FA guidelines. However, despite the FA guidelines, and despite Arsenal having played by these rules for EVERY OTHER GAME this season, including against Chelsea in the Capitol One Cup, Tottenham fans will have only 5,000.

And the reason? Because of "safety concerns" regarding the seats.

Yes, that's right chaps, less than a decade after building a brand-spanking-new, state of the art stadium that costs Arsenal fans 60+ quid a seat, Arsenal's ground just so happens to be "ill-equipped" to handle "so many" away fans.

Except, as we just noted, it's been perfectly fine for every other team visiting the Emirates.

So, in other words, this is Arsenal talking out of their arse to try and cover up a blatant attempt to cut Spurs' support in half for the FA Cup tie.

In case any of you Gooners were wondering: this sort of shi.t is why people don't like your club.

I hope we whip the Goons, just to shove a healthy dose of Karma down their throats.

Come on City, today.

^^^ Lol what?

City gave us a thorough smacking today, but at least Arsenal put some in the back of the net... ahem ahem.

I'll add that to the "why Spurs hate Arsenal" list. Everyone hating Arsenal is a bit much, and last time I checked, no one likes a rival club, even if they help your granny with her groceries.

5,000 away fans does sound unfair though. I can't believe they would let that many Spurs supporters in the Emirates. Blasphemy.

people don't like us because we're top obviously. It's the same every season. That's why everyone hates manu, they're scum (because they won the league so many times). Even though I don't really care about them this season. Just another mid table club. When you're top obviously every one wants to see you fail.

@lodatz okay good information, I couldn't care less though. I'm happy less spurs fans come to our beautiful stadium. It would seriously ruin its charm.

@ikoiko yeah we played well, spurs and manu couldn't do shit at the etihad. I'm optimistic for the rest of the season. Also the refs were absolute garbage. The score should have been closer (6-5 to city would be a fair scoreline).

@KingHenry, the refs were fu.cking drowsy. The linesman called 3 incorrect offsides against Arsenal if I remember correctly, and one actually resulted in a goal, as well as a hand ball in the box that was never called. All credit to City for cleaning up their chances.

No way that was a deliberate handball from Zabaleta, it hit his thigh and bounced up to his hand.

@fredtilson deliberate or not doesn't matter. His arm was in the way. Had it not been there, the ball was going to walcott who was through on goal. So it was a penalty. Also it didn't "hit" his thigh he misscontroled it onto his arm.

From a neutral perspective, it seems rather harsh to allow only 5,000 away supporters into the Emirates. If what Lodatz said is correct (where every team has the responsibility to 15% of the stadium being allocated to away supporters), then Arsenal's little scheme here is rather disgraceful, more so when you take in that Spurs and them have a local derby going on for years and years. I saw buckets of Arsenal fans at the Etihad even with the 6-3 loss, and I don't believe this problem was present last derby at the Emirates. So it seems odd to me.

^^ It's pretty typical of them.

Like I said: this is why people don't like Arsenal. And no, not just Spurs fans, and no, not just this season because you're 'on top'.

It also wasn't even a handball, re: Zabaleta, unless you count the shoulder region as the hand, which it's not.

It was a handball, unless you call the upper part of your arm a shoulder. And also I dislike every EPL team that's in the top 6, so I expect every other top 6 team's fans to dislike arsenal as well. Though the ones I dislike the most are manu chelsea and, obviously, tottenham.

I find it very strange that you just dislike teams in the top 6, why should that matter? Personally i dislike Stoke City more than i dislike Man City Liverpool and Everton etc.

Disliking a team should be about the history between the clubs (imo*) not about league position during the season.

I was looking for a replay of the handball, and you have to be blind to say that it was a shoulder haha or maybe you just don't watch football much.

That's shoulder :

I'd say you have to be ignorant of human anatomy to consider it not the shoulder.

But hey, whatever makes you feel better about getting stomped.

^If Lewa would stop wanting to go to Bayern and chooses to Chelsea I'll wet myself so much. But then there's the issue with Lukaku. We definitely need a striker like Suarez or Lewa at the moment but Lukaku has the potential to be as good or better than them in time, but he's far from the finished product. So what do you think, get a striker as good as Suarez or Lewa now or wait for Lukaku? I personally would wait for Lukaku.

@Ven & Alex

Wait for Lukaku. He's a beast.

Lewandowski was a late bloomer on the big stage. He showcased his talent at the age of 23 on the big stage. Everyone was aware of Lukaku's talent by the time he was 17. Just like Luis Suarez. Wait for Lukaku, an you'll have a striker better than Drogba ever was. And the best part? Lukaku intends on staying at the Bridge. You need loyalty like that. Not the Lewandowski type, who'll go to his rival team for the sake of trophies. And I doubt Suarez is leaving L'pool anyways.
