Possible 2014 WC squad
Heisinburg 12 years ago
Manchester United 67 1516

Sooo much talent in England atm, it's hard to pick out the ones that could represent their nations next year. So I want to hear what you think a country's squad will look like in next year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil!

I'll start for England (others can do England as well). Just be in mind this is my CURRENT thought of England's future. It will most likely change as we move further on this season.
GK:
Joe Hart
Jack Butland
Fraser Forster

DEF:
Ashley Cole
Leighton Baines
Chris Smalling
Joleon Lescott
Gary Cahill
Joleon Lescott
Micah Richards
Kyle Walker

MID:
Steven Gerrard (C)
Scott Parker
Frank Lampard/Michael Carrick (depends whether or not Lampsy retires)
James Milner
Alex Oxlade-Chamerlain
Aaron Lennon
Theo Walcott

Jack Wilshere
Tom Cleverley

FW:
Wayne Rooney
Jermaine Defoe
Danny Welbeck
Daniel Sturridge

Your turn...

@JuanMata,

Rolando basically hasn't held a high enough standard. You're right that he played some very decent matches for us in the last seasons, but other than that, he hasn't been too impressive. As a consequence, he was moved out from Porto's first team. However, he recently got loaned out to Napoli, and that's obviously great for both him and us. Bruno Alves has shown a few better qualities than Rolando, and when I saw Alves in the Euros, I was very impressed.

Though, it might be the case that Rolando gets some real confidence by playing for Napoli's first squad, but we'll see. Right now, Alves is the first choice, despite his age. But yes, I think Rolando can be an option for the WC instead of Alves as Rolando's now getting playing time for a great club like Napoli -- and he's younger. It was rather a lineup on how I see Portugal right now. :)

@Dynastian98 Walcott, Rooney & Sturridge are a good finishers and both Walcott and Sturridge are fast on the wings they can create many chances alone not to mention that there are Wilshere, Lampard & Gerrard behind them.

Hello,

It seems that my request was misunderstood - I asked for a predicted WC 23 men squad, not a starting XI, thanks. This way, you can have better breathing space with whom you want to see competing in the WC, next year.

*coughs* Sorry, that was me who started the XI posts, I think. My bad. >.<

Who is Iniesta? Is he some new hot-shot, or something? Does he play for the U19s?

lol Lodatz. It's hard for me to even think of a squad without him or Xavi, David Villa, Puyol, just to name a few. But the next generation of spanish footballers looks bright. I'm really hoping Thiago plays come 2014! I think him and Isco would be great additions to the midfield. I haven't seen much of Muniain lately but i have high hopes for him too.

ikoiko I can guarantee that both Xavi and Puyol will be at WC2014. Even Del Bosque said he is counting on them. Btw that is a terrible squad list.

Let us hope... what make's it "terrible"? Most of these players have played on an international level before, and even won the sub21 world cup. Terrible? Don't think so.

Mikel Arteta needs to be in Spain. Del Bosque is mean...

@Heisinburg the reason I put Lamps on the XI is because England are always good in the first half (True Story)

I would sub him at around 50' for someone else.
