Manchester United seeing Fàbregas in red !!

'SKY' AND 'THE INDEPENDENT' PUT SOME NUMBERS ON THE DEAL

After Bayern beat Manchester United to the punch to sign Thiago, the English club has now set its sights on another 'Azulgrana' midfielder. The name on the table is Cesc Fàbregas, and both 'The Independent' and 'Sky' have reported possible figures for the transaction.

'The Independent' claims that the deal would be worth around €40 million and that Manchester United is convinced that the player is just what the club is looking for. However, Barcelona does not appear to be willing to release its clutches on a player which it paid €40 million for two seasons ago.

Meanwhile, 'Sky' reports that Moyes will table an offer of around €30 million and that the British coach wants him to shore up the midfield after the departure of Paul Scholes.

I don' t know what is happening these days, i don't believe Barça would let him go, i never heard he wanted to leave... it's really strange how United are working on transfer market, i don' t understand.
What's your impressions ?

I doubt Barça is going to let go of another world-class midfielder. Man U slipped on Thiago and now Moyes is shitting a brick.

I don't think Fabregas will go to Man Utd. Either he will stay in Barca or leave for Arsenal.

This is what Fabregas said last month:

"I've always said that I'm happy at Barca. Whoever says that I'm leaving doesn't know me and has never spoken with me."Nor with my agent, because he knows that I don't want him to talk with other people about me. I'm very private and I don't even talk about these things with my family.
"If someone says anything that isn't that I want to play at Barca, it's completely absurd."

That doesn't sound like a player that is angling for a move.

Quick Answer = NEVER GONNA HAPPEN
LONG ANSWER:I can say the following with close to absolute Certainty
1- Cesc wants to stay at Barca. He doesn't want to leave, and he certainly wouldn't want to leave now... feeling a failure (even though he isn't). I think he'd at least want one more year to give himself a chance before giving up hope. If he leaves now, the only reason would be because he was forced out.
2- Arsenal had 2 clauses put into their contract they signed with Barca. #1- If Barcelona were ever to sell him for anything over £25m, Arsenal would get 50% of the sell-on fee. #2- This one is the most important, if an offer was ever tabled to Barcelona for him, ARSENAL have right of FIRST REFUSAL. In other words, he ain't going anywhere unless Arsenal decide they don't want him back (never gonna happen).

Those are straight facts.

NOW, here's comes reason.

#1- Cesc is a fan of Arsenal (on record numeous times while at club/after he left Arsenal that they are the only club he loves beside Barcelona). He is a fan of Wenger (still stays in contact with him). He is still loved by the majority of Arsenal fans (despite his antics near the end). He loves London. He would still walk into our team.
#2- Cesc's GF and child live in London (due to personal issue with her ex-husband... long story).
#3- Cesc has said various times and in no uncertain terms, that the ONLY club he'd ever play for if he had to leave Barca was Arsenal (in the world... let alone in England).

#4- NO WAY would Barca accept such a poultry sum for someone they've chased for 3 years.
#5- Would Barca really want to let Cesc go after Thiago already left? Who'd be the heir to Xavi?

NOW, given all of the above... why would Barcelona, Arsenal, and Cesc want him/allow him to go to United?

It's probably all just manufactured by the newspapers.

^Indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if the bid (assuming it actually happened) is nothing more than a smokescreen for United's real target.
