Man Utd fans: How will we play with the addition of Falcao?

Are we going to stick with the 3-5-2 formation?

4-3-3?

4-2-3-1?

4-4-2?

There is no established first team, given the versatility of our squad. But I think we should just stick with the 3-5-2 and try to improve in that system. If we want to integrate Falcao and RVP both, Rooney would have to definitely drop deeper.

There is a lot of confusion as to how much he is earning. Newspapers have been blowing his wages way out of proportion. From reading more trusted sources, I'd say he is earning around 265k/week. But lets remember that the only reason he was signed on a season long loan was to comply with FFP. Otherwise, his agent, Mendes, is adamant that he has been sold to United on a 4 year contract. The loan deal is just a formality.

@TheGame
I heard on Sky Sports that we loaned him because of his knee and not FFP.
We're far from being affected by FFP.

@man_utd: On that note, we should have loaned Strootman too!

@man_utd, that would not make sense, because why would we even decide to loan him if he had knee injuries to begin with? Seems like a waste of money if that was the case.

@TheGame: I mean its a 10 Mil gamble. If he works wonders for us, then great. If not, we have have saved by not spending 60Mil on him.

@ashwin1729, I hope so. Some of his previous goals are absolutely jaw-dropping. In my eyes, he is already a more complete striker than RVP, given that he is two-footed. Check out this vid:

@TheGame: Watched it last night. I actually saw him play against Chelsea in UEFA Cup winners cup. We should have brought him from Athletico then, but Fergie didn't want to spend 50M on him and instead went for RVP for 25M...

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has denied reports claiming he requires surgery to fix a knee injury.

Earlier this week, reports suggested that the 31-year-old could face months on the sidelines after an operation was postponed prior to Netherlands’ World Cup campaign.

It was also alleged that the season-long loan signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco was approved by Louis van Gaal due to the extent of Van Persie’s injury, though the Netherlands forward has now rubbished those claims.

"I don't know where these rumours are coming from," Van Persie told FOX Sports.

"I can honestly say that I will not visit a hospital any time soon to undergo surgery. You need quite a lively fantasy to come up with this nonsense."

Van Persie also insists he is ready to compete for his place at United following Falcao's move and is confident the Colombian's arrival will be a boost for the squad.

"I am happy with the arrival of Falcao," added the Dutchman.

"He makes us a better team. You always have to aim for the best at a big club. That's my philosophy as well. Falcao has to fight for his place, just like me. The two of us and Wayne Rooney and James Wilson will have to fight it out."

This complicates things a little. So does this mean Rooney will drop deeper?

Damn, this could only mean one thing: Rooney will play CM or on the Wings or CAM (Mata on the bench). Makes sense due to his high work rate...

Oh god... this is bad... If RVP is not out then we will have some trouble accommodating all of our players. Mata would probably be the one that's going to be benched.

I still dont like how all this turned out to be, maybe Im a bit pessimist but this is just not a balanced squad and it doesnt give me confidence about our future. I predict total disaster this season as well. There is just no way Van Gaal can set the proper squad without sitting out some important players.

@Tuanis: This is not the first time van Gaal has benched important players. But this will be his last because he said he wants to retire after United.

Ah screw this, the more I tinker with the formation, the more I realize that not everyone can play week in week out. I think Mata and Januzaj will not get as much playing time in this system. That is just the fact that the players will have to get used to. They're professionals and United is a bigger club with a winning mentality. We can't compromise that just to please everyone. If LVG wants to play a 3-5-2, this will be our strongest team:

Subs: Mata, Young, Smalling, Blackett, Lindegaard, Januzaj, Carrick (Fletcher, Valencia, Wilson and Amos as needed)

I would think Blind starts at LWB and DiMaria at CM like he did last game...and when Shaw comes in he would take LWB ahead of Blind. Or Rooney will play next to Herrera, and DiMaria will play CAM.

@TheGame
Yep. I'm really hoping we can get Strootman in the January window. Maybe him and at least one center back and we're good. We also don't have to worry about players being cup-tied and all so that's good.

By the way guys, Welbeck moves to Arsenal and gets injured in training. Best part of the day! I feel sad for Welbeck, but funny that Arsenal strikers keep getting injured!

Sigh. I know it sounds harsh but I'm trying to move on from Welbz even though he is still United through and through.
Sadly, he is now an Arsenal player and as of right now, it's Arsenal's Problem.

still hurts...
