@Spanish: Fergie used to throw the capital one cup games after round 2 or 3 because he used to play with Academy players and people who were on the fringes of the team....two years ago against CFC, he started the entire B team as he went for EPL and UCL...

yeah but that was when united had a realistic.chance inBPL and UCL they have no chance in BPL this year. if you aint got a chance in BPL might as well go full on capital one cup right?

Yeah true, but this year our priority is top 4. I don't care if we win capital one cup or FA cup. If LVG does not make it to top 4, then it will be a huge issue.

@spanish, with Moyes, it seemed that we were on the decline as the season progressed. That in and of itself was a bad sign. And Moyes had nothing in his resume for us to base our trust on. LVG is an experienced coach with tons of trophies to his name. There is a clear distinction.

@TheGame: But that should not give us an excuse to get whopped by a championship team. The only saving grace is that this is not at OT! Trophies are useless to us if he doesn't deliver!

TheGame yeah but Van Gaal only managed top clubs in their leagur e.g Ajax, Bayern thats why he won alot. Now hes at a declining club it shows that Van Gaal can only operate with top clubs not declining ones. Also Moyes had constantly got Everton top 6 finishes year in year out despite having low budget at everton which is a really underrated achievement.

I certainly agree with that. +1.

I think though that you're judging LvG (and his United side) a little too early, spanish. You can't call one terrible season a 'decline', man. If they underperform this year too, then sure. But I caution you against jumping the gun...

ok maybe i'm being a bit too harsh on LVG but it looks seriously bad for united cos van gaal shouldve addressed his defence before prioritising a area of the pitch united already excell in. Also for a team to go from 1st to 7th is a serious decline then theres losing 4-0 to a 2nd tier team which makes matters worse.

Did not everyone at first criticize him for his work at Netherlands in qualifying round to World Cup ? Then he turned things around .

No need to panic just yet . Transfer window is still open . I think he is trying things out just to see where improvements are needed and new addition . Well today it backfired big , but I am sure he learned more about players he has at his disposal .

yea marcus but he hasnt won a single match of of 3 teams hes expected to beat. Atleast 1 win c'mon its embarassing now. Alsohe may change things around but maybe in a years time or so which united fans will become impatient which will lead to LVG being sacked just like moyes.

I don't even know now.
I sincerely think and hope that LVG is the man for United. I'm hoping that he can succeed here but he does have a tendency to take some time to get his desired results.

Just want to put little smile on you guys , things will be fine :D United is a huge equity on wall street market . Failure is not an option . Van Gaal knows that and he will turn it around.

Our away support is also just fantastic. The fans who traveled there deserved better.

^Exactly my point. All fans deserve better, not just those travelling. Its not that we lost to a 3rd tier team, its that we lost 4-0! I still believe in the guy, but he needs to get his acts straight, and if he wants to throw a game way, make it look like at least like they tried to win...

what a time to be alive !!! The fact that they are only in 2 competitions now will help them. I think they'll do fine and get a top 7 finish.
