His career is as good as dead.. Following a break such as this, they never come back as they were. It sucks. I wish him a speedy recovery.

No , his career will be fine . He will be affected . That break luckily happened in the area where bones grow faster and easier . If it was closer to his foot or knee then things would have been really messed up for his career . So , we all just stay positive .
