Hey everyone. :) I am going to be utterly self-indulgent here, and start a thread solely about Tottenham, and the players we have in our squad for this coming season. I plan to gather as much video footage as possible to showcase what I think is seriously shaping up to be the 2nd or 3rd best squad in the country.

Just to start us off, I'll go through what we now have at our disposal, in terms of our DM and CM roster. Feast your eyes, gentlemen (and gentlewomen):

DM: Sandro

Was undoubtedly the most feared DM in the league before his injury. He's fast, an intelligent passer, a ferocious tackler, and is skilled with the ball at his feet to boot. Oh, and every now and again he scores a belter from distance.

CDM/CM: Paulinho

In case you missed his imperious domination of the midfields in the Confederations Cup, here's some glimpses of him running the show in Brazil. Strong, athletic, excellent passer, great shot, not afraid to tackle, and a pretty good dribber; worth every penny of his 17m pound price-tag.

CM/CAM: Dembele

The Moose has pretty much got everything you want in the centre of the park -- he's agile, clever, physical, likes a good tackle, and due to some fantastic dribbling ability is someone that no-one seems able to actually get the ball off. Oh, and throw in a great shot, too. He was shackled a bit last season when Sandro got injured, but expect him to be back to rampaging form this season, now that we have two Brazilian samurai to cover things at the back.

Oh, and apparently (though not yet) we're adding this guy too:

CDM/CM: Capoue

A mixture of all three of the others.

Paulinho is such a boss

Awesome, Lod. Love your commitment to your club. I really hope Spurs make a good fight this season, and I'll be cheering for them (and Chelsea) to grab home the Premier League title (bet you know why). ;)

Okay, so onto the forwards section!

RW/SS: Bale

Now, let's just take care of the elephant in the room, first. Yes, we all know how much media speculation there is about his future, but for right now, he is still a Spurs player. The whole world and their dogs know by now what he can do, but, let's feast our eyes anyway:

CF: Soldado

Now for the new guy! La Liga fans will need no introduction for Roberto "Goldado", and in 3 seasons at Valencia he's made the loss of David Villa seem like a minor scrape instead of a gaping wound. He's excellent at on-touch finishes and volleys, has great link-up ability, and makes very intelligent runs. See him in action!

LW/RW: Chadli

A relative unknown for those who do not watch the Dutch league, but for those who do, he's a bloody skillful winger with a fine eye for goal as well as assists. He's fast. confident on the ball, willing to dribble as well as shoot, and his technique is just what we've needed on our flanks when Lennon and Bale were injured. Very sexy prospect for this coming season!

RW: Lennon:

It's hard to believe he's still only 25 years old. He's fast as lightning, and although his goal ratio is still not that high, he has a fantastic eye for the assist, and feeding someone like Soldado should make this a very profitable attacking line.

CF: Defoe

Clearly Soldado is our new golden boy up front, and will be expected as our first-choice striker, but, let's just remind ourselves of what Defoe can do when he's in form. As a super-sub or a back-up striker, there are few with the impact that Defoe can manage, even if he's never shown himself quite good enough to be 'first-class' for a whole season.

Now for the defense!

Unfortunately, I could not find very much footage of defenders, because, well, hardly anyone makes videos about defenders, so we'l have to just make do with one of the stars, and our goalie.

CB: Vertonghen

This guys just oozes pure class. He has game-reading skills to match pretty much any CB in the world that you'd care to name, is great with the ball at his feet, is calm and collected in possession, loves a good tackle, and even chips in with some goals that a striker would be proud of. I give you: Super Jan:

GK: Lloris:

Let's face it, he's just great. Has all the tools to become one of the best keepers in the world, and is already considered by some to be the best sweeper-keeper currently playing. Now that he is settled between the White Hart Lane goalposts, he can only get better this season.

Of course, it should be remembered that we do have Younes Kaboul returning, Kyle Walker, and Danny Rose, who was a huge hit when on loan to Sunderland. Not very happy that we sold Caulker, but, we also have Zeki Fryers and Dawson for that back line.

Yep your team is very promising. I'd put Lloris, Vertonghen, Bale, and Sandro into the Arsenal starting 11 right now. And Soldado if we don't get Suarez (I still believe). Paulinho I don't know yet what he is capable of, same with the winger. I love Dembele but I would pick Rosicky, Cazorla or Wilshere over him.
Let's hope for a 5th place finish right guys ?

Now, finally, for the creative and fringe players we have to try and make the most of the quality we have around the pitch.

CAM/LW: Siggurdson

Young Gylfi is a very talented player who didn't manage to settle as well as we would have liked (mainly due to rotation with Dempsey), but when he was in the right gear, he was pretty awesome. Apoligies for the quality of the vid, but it's the best I could find, and I think you still get the idea:

CAM/RW: Holtby

Holtby has come across from Germany with a great reputation, but hasn't yet managed to live up it. However, this was hardly his fault, considering he was brought over 6 months earlier than intended, and then asked to just fill in various places, ranging from DM to AM, to winger. His willingness to do this is to his great credit, but has yielded few highlights, so instead I decided to cheat and throw in a vid of him at Schalke showing what he's really capable of, and what we hope he'll start to do this season for us, now that our midfield is more solid. P.S. he's only 21. Hoping he'll be a wonderful link between midfield and the strikers, this year.

CM/CAM: Tom Carroll

Who? I wouldn't blame you for asking, because he did not feature as much as many Spurs fans would have liked last year, and we have high hopes for him. He's basically cut from the same cloth as someone like Xavi; calm, patient in possession, likes to make clever, incisive passes, and be a playmaker from deep. He too is only 21, and hardly played for the first team last year, but here's a teaser, just for fun. Oh, and in case you wondered, he's the guy who passed Bale the ball for THAT goal against West Ham.

RW/LW: Andros Townsend

Another young player with tons of potential, Townsend spent the last 6 months on loan to QPR, and was voted their player of the season. Alas, not many highlights floating around the net because, let's face it, who films QPR? But, just to give you an idea: he's strong, quick, skilled with the ball at his feet, and has a great shot on him, as he displayed against Monaco when he came on as a sub:

Congratulations to the Tottenham U21 for beating the Chelsea U21 4:2. You guys did great, but I'm sure the same result is going to be for the other team next time ;).

this may be the year for tottenham or even liverpool to take that 4th spot away from Arsenal, I believe the 4th place fight is going to be just as exiting as the top fight. Im predicting one of the most even EPLs so far

I dont think Ancelotti wants Adebayor at RM.. We loaned him back in 2010-2011 where we also won the Copa Del Rey.. We are at the moment thinking of Bale , Suarez or Draxler.. I would love to see Bale in a Madrid shirt with the number 11 that would be perfect.

Actually, we are not thinking about Draxler at all. Perez has his back bent over Bale right now. Suarez is not being paid too much attention by our management either.

And I think you misunderstood. What Lodatz said was a joke. Spurs aren't really selling Ade to us.

My favorites from this squad are Jan Vetronghen and Siggurdson

Annoyingly, a deal for Alen Halilovic has fallen through, AGAIN, because of his father. AGAIN.

So, for those who don't know about this one: Alen Halilovic is this frickin' awesome 17-year old playing for Dinamo Zagreb. He's a whole bucketload of awesome. You can see for yourself here:

So, anyways. We were down to buy him and another teenager (a defender called Jedvaj) together for 17m pounds, right? The fee was agreed, the clubs were agreed, everything was gravy. Then, Halilovic's father, who just happens to be one of the lower coaches at Zagreb, insists that young Alen won't sign because Tottenham refused to pay for his brother's school fees (on top of a house they were supposed to be buying him).

So, that all fell through, Jedvaj was sold to Roma (I think?), and we all thought it was dead.

THEN.

The deal gets resurrected last week (btw, when Levy was supposedly meeting Perez in Miami... he totally wasn't, and was in Croatia instead talking to Zagreb's president about this very deal), and once again, the two clubs have come to an agreement over the fee, and everything looks gravy.

Only, this time, young Alen's father botches it up AGAIN by now declaring that unless he is guaranteed a first team slot that he won't be sold. Y'know, presumably ahead of the likes of Bale, Dembele, Paulinho, Soldado and what-have-you. As a 17-year old.

The problem is: he's already suffering at Zagreb, because the standard of the league isn't high enough to keep developing his talent. Tottenham were originally going to agree to loan him back to Zagreb for one more year, but his dad has decided that's not good enough for his little cherub.

So, Halilovic's career is stalling, Zagreb are being shafted, Tottenham are losing out on a great prospect for the future, and all because his dad is a greedy bar-steward.
